Donations of maps, lamps, and flashlights

Do you have old travel maps or an outdated atlas (especially topographic maps)? Too many hand-held flashlights cluttering up that junk drawer? Recently redecorate and don't know what to do with that old lamp?

The 8th grade students could really use them in science class! Ms. Thomas is looking for about 30 maps and 30 flashlights, as well as six lamps with light bulbs (for a sun and moon lesson).

If you have any extras around the house, you can drop them off at the front office and tell them they are for 8th grade science – the students and Ms. Thomas thank you! Questions? you can email [email protected].

Important Safety Reminder

When dropping off your students in carline, wait to pull out until ALL students being let out of their cars cross to the school's sidewalk (and, of course, for the vehicle in front of you to begin driving).

Do not immediately pull into the middle between the two lanes. There is no middle lane. This creates a very dangerous situation for our students.

Instead, take two to three deep breaths and enjoy a minute of quiet before the lanes move.
COVID-19 Health and Safety

Due to the unsettled nature of the recent federal and state court decisions, we strongly recommend masking at this time for students, staff, and volunteers. Read more.

Additionally, if someone in your household tests positive for the virus that causes COVID-19, here's a quick link to find out next steps as it relates to health, safety, and education.
Choir Opportunity
Songs: "Lift Every Voice and Sing" and "It's Time"

For the second year in a row, Meridian students (grades 1-12), staff, and alumni have the opportunity to join a choir in celebration of Black History Month.

This year, the choir will perform two songs live in late February. "Lift Every Voice and Sing" was written by James Weldon Johnson in 1900 and composed by his brother, J. Rosamond Johnson, in 1905. "It's Time" was released in 1990 by The Winans, an American gospel quartet from Detroit, Michigan.

All Meridian students in grades 1-12, staff, and alumni are invited to participate. Submit one interest form per person. The choir is led by Sal Stow and Monique Swain. Sign up by Jan. 10.
