Reminder! State and County Grants Open
Kane County Grant applications for small businesses and nonprofits are open until Friday, Oct. 2 or until funds are depleted. Please visit the Kane County website for pertinent information and to submit your application. You must use the online portal to apply. Answers to questions from the Sept. 18 webinars are posted on the Kane County’s relief fund webpage. Check it out here: https://www.countyofkane.org/Pages/CRF.aspx. Thursday, Sept. 17, the second round of the Business Interruption Grant (BIG) Program opened for applications. These grants will be available to all small businesses statewide that experienced losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Grants will be awarded and funded on a rolling basis until funding is depleted. Application details, including links to eligibility criteria is available here.

Many of you have been viewing Mayor Schielke’s weekly videos. You can access last week’s September 25th video by clicking this link. He briefly talked about Trick-or-Treating in Batavia and also looked ahead to the Christmas season, encouraging people to decorate their home's exterior. It is hoped that this will bring some much-needed joy to all.

Mobile COVID-19 Testing in Kane County
On Friday, the Kane County Health Department released dates and times for mobile COVID-19 testing this week. Today and tomorrow, it will be located in Batavia, at the old Sam's Club. Read more about this free testing here. The Community-Based Testing Site, located at the Chicago Premium Outlet Mall, 1650 Premium Outlet Blvd. in Aurora, will cease operations as of September 30. IDPH will announce a new regional testing site shortly.

ST. CHARLES, IL — After nearly two decades of success in the commercial aviation industry, St. Charles' Turbo Jet Partners launched a new venture last month.

Six Batavia Public School District (BPS101) schools partnered with the American Heart Association last school year to make an impact in the fight against heart disease. The Batavia Public School District (BPS101) will have 4 seats on the Board of Education that will be filled at the Consolidated General Election on April 6, 2021.
The Office of the Kane County Clerk supervises the school board elections, and their website will post the specific details about the election process in Kane County. Candidates can begin circulating petitions on September 22, and the filing dates are Monday, December 14 through Monday, December 21, 2020. For local residents, the Batavia Counselors' Collaboration put together a fantastic resource, the Kane County Area Resources Guide. The downloadable PDF is available via this Google Docs link. We have the printed resource available in the office, too.
