At this month’s Vestry meeting, we focused on important business issues to prepare the Church for the rest of this year and for our future together. We were again blessed to have Rev. LaRue Downing share more thoughts and recommendations for the steps to help us move our stewardship campaigns from a short, late-fall transactional activity to a year-round congregational recognition of the costs of our priorities and aspirations as a Church. We Episcopalians are famously reticent about our giving and chuckle at our idiosyncrasies and the euphemisms we employ in our approach to giving, and LaRue is equipping the Vestry to help guide Saint Paul’s in a more open and honest way to support the goals outlined in our Strategic Plan. We need to become much more open in discussing what is required of us so our gifts can meet the scope of our goals. LaRue wrapped up his presentation with: “we need to begin to take away the veil that surrounds us talking about money.” Thank you also to Bill Ford who is leading the Stewardship campaign.
The Vestry was excited to see that the Tyler Hall kitchen project is finally underway now that the building permit has finally been issued. Details on the financial management of the project followed, outlining how we will be proper stewards of the capital campaign funds dedicated to this project.
You will hear more about this as fall (fall already?) approaches, but the Outreach Committee is busy planning a fundraiser to help support its goals. Keep your calendars open for Oktoberfest. Prost!
Led by the Wardens, the Vestry opened a discussion to explore the hiring of an associate rector. The discussion included honest and grateful assessments of the strengths and contributions Eric brings to Saint Paul’s and where gaps between ministerial expectations and the capacity of our current clergy exist. We authorized the Rector to explore and provide us with information on the options that may exist to fill such a position. We expect to be guided to a resolution by the availability of either full-time or part-time clergy, a potential candidate’s specific calling(s) and by the financial requirements of each.
Peace,
Cameron Nixon

The Apostles Creed
Join us at 9:30 in the Berlin Room for the second session in our summer series on the Apostles Creed. This week we're talking the first word of the Creed: Credo, I believe. What do we mean when we say that we believe? On what do we base our beliefs? Is there a difference between belief and faith? You do not need to have been at the last session to join this one.

Caregivers’ support group will meet Thursday, June 23, 1:30 PM in the chapel. Summer 2023 Ecuador Mission Trip
Information Session, Berlin Room
Sunday, June 26, following 11 AM service
|
Join us for an informational meeting on a possible summer 2023 mission trip to Ecuador. The trip would be coordinated through Episcopal missionaries Cameron and Roberto Vivanco, and SAMS (Society of Anglican Missionaries and Senders). The trip would assist Episcopal churches in Ecuador and would include prayer, youth and congregational activities, and facility improvement projects. There is also time for fun, such as visiting the Equator, sightseeing, and shopping. This is an extremely rewarding experience and enables us to reach out to our brothers and sisters in Christ in a different way.
