Susan Lindgren’s Inaugural Silent Auction goes LIVE this Saturday, March 18 at 9am! 


There will be items and experiences to bid on, as well as some experiences with a limited number of tickets, so make sure to check it out and bid early!  Visit this link, https://sle.betterworld.org/auctions/spring-silent-auction, to get a sneak peek and set an alarm for Saturday morning when the auction is live!  More specific information and details will be sent out before the event starts.  The auction is ONLY available for one week and will close on Friday, March 24 at 8:00 pm!  


Funds raised through the auction go directly to funding field trips, student enrichment activities (i.e. Festival of Nations, Student Showcase Fair, June Jamboree), as well as yearbooks, online directory, and so much more!

 Women's History Month is a celebration of women's contributions to history, culture and society and has been observed annually in the month of March in the United States since 1987.


A few more of the amazing women around our school! They are caring and wonderful role models for our students!

Math Night was a fun night had by ALL!

Thanks to all the families and volunteers who came out last Friday for a great Math Night!  Students learned fun new games, brushed up on old ones, and won lots and lots of prizes (i.e. candy!).  Seldon Dekyi, 3rd, grade, won a party-size bag of M&Ms for the closest estimate of popcorn kernels in a jar. Maddie Cabuay, 5th grade, won an XL container of cheese balls for the closest estimate of cheese balls in the container.  Plus there were some BIG winners drawn:

  • Otis Hansen, 2nd grade, won a $25 Target gift card
  • Hannah Bereket, 4th grade, won a $10 Target gift card
  • Winner Lundula, 2nd grade, won a $10 Target gift card

Kindergarten Welcome

If you or someone you know has an incoming kindergartner, be sure to check out the Kindergarten Welcome on March 21. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation and activities will start at 6 p.m. Kindergarten Welcome is a great opportunity for 2023-24 kindergarten families to meet your school's principal and teachers, explore your school building, enjoy fun activities, learn about before- and after-school programming, and complete your enrollment process.

We’re pleased to announce that families can now opt in to receive text messages for important information from St. Louis Park Public Schools. 


Option 1: Opt in to receive text messages


Verify your cell number: If you already receive voice recordings from St. Louis Park Public Schools on a cell phone, your number is updated! If not, contact the main office of your student’s school to update your cell phone in PowerSchool. Send us an opt-in text message: Text Y to 67587 to opt in to receive text messages.


Option 2: Wait for the text message on March 30 asking you to opt in

If we have a cell phone number for you on file and you have not already opted-in by March 30, you will receive a text from 67587 requesting you to opt-in to receive text messages. Does your family speak Somali or Spanish? If you wish to update your language preferences, please contact our front office staff and ask that the preferred guardian language be updated in the student information system (PowerSchool). This will ensure you receive district-level communications such as closures and emergencies in your preferred messages. Whenever possible, we will do our best to ensure SLP phone recordings go out in your preferred language.


Museum Exhibit: Talent Development Showcase


St. Louis Park Public Schools invites families to the Museum Exhibit at all SLP elementary schools where K-2 students will showcase projects related to engineering, architecture, and science careers created in their Talent Development class.

 

What: Museum Exhibit (student projects)

Where: Exhibits will take place at all St. Louis Park Public School elementary schools (Aquila - Media Center, Park Spanish Immersion, Susan Lindgren, and Peter Hobar events will take place in Talent Development classrooms)

When: Thursday, March 23, 5- 7 p.m.

Why: Students have been inspired by the work of Norma Merrick Sklarek, a Black female architect who worked closely with Cesar Pelli. She was often not recognized for her collaboration on some of his projects that became well known. 

Indigenous Art Series

The American Indian Parent Advisory Committee invites community members to learn about and create Indigenous regalia in preparation for our first district Powwow - Honor the Youth.

Join us on Saturday, March 18 at St. Louis Park High School from 9am - 1 pm (Room C157, enter through Door 26)


This is a 4 meeting series. The next meetings will be held on Sat., April 8, Sat., April 22 and Sat., May 6. The art series is free for Indigenous students and families. Save the Date: Honoring the Youth Powwow on May 20, 2023

The St. Louis Park community is invited to the Honoring the Youth Powwow taking place on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Recreation Outdoor Center (ROC) in St. Louis Park, 12-6 p.m. The grand entry will take place at 1 p.m. and the powwow will include dancing, drumming, honoring ancestors, and food and vendors. 


The Honoring the Youth Powwow is presented by the St. Louis Park Public Schools' American Indian Parent Advisory Council and  the High School's Youth Intertribal Council.

Board Listening sessions

Save the Date for April 18: School Board Listening Session



The SLP School Board invites families to join them for the upcoming listening session on Tuesday, April 18. The listening session will be held at 6:30pm in the High School Library Media Center. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and have a conversation with school board members. It is important to note that this is not an official meeting and no official action will be taken. Please be aware that the school board members will end the listening session 30 minutes after the posted start time if there are no stakeholders in attendance.

Beauty and the Beast Choir Performances

St. Louis Park High School Choirs will present Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" for their 2023 Gala Fundraising production. All performances will be held in the Middle School Performing Arts Center. Proceeds from the Gala are used to support the cost of choir tours.

  • Friday, March 24 at 7:00 p.m.

St. Louis Park Community Education offers a variety of Aquatic Classes. Classes are offered at the Central Community Center Pool (indoor).


Summer Learning Academy - Click here!

Summer Learning Academy (for students who were in grades K-5 during the 22-23 school year) is a free program that promotes student growth and exposes learners to social and emotional development and cultural awareness through the engagement of academics, enrichment and physical activities. Learners will also be exposed to on-site and off-site field trip/experiential learning to enhance the overall summer experience. This year's Summer Learning Academy will take place at Peter Hobart Elementary. June 19-30 and July 10-August 4, Monday through Friday, 8:00-12:30 PM.

Summer Learning & Play - Click here!

St. Louis Park Community Education is excited to offer morning and afternoon fee-based camps as part of its Summer Learning & Play program. If a student registers for both an AM and PM camp, they can stay all day. There will be staff supervision from 12:00-1:00 PM for lunch and free-play time before afternoon classes begin. There is something for every kid including STEM camps, arts camps, sports camps, and more! These will take place at Peter Hobart Elementary. The camps are four days a week, Monday through Thursday.
