Dear Artists
Our fall meeting is coming up soon, September 18, 1-3pm, live, at Twiggs Gallery in Boscawen! We hope you can make it, but if you can’t we are planning to present it through Zoom. We are also planning to record it and post it later on YouTube.
One good thing about the pandemic is that we have all become more accustomed to using online technologies, and meeting online has enabled members throughout the state to attend. It has certainly broadened our community - WCANH now has 105 members! I attribute that high number to our Zoom Fall and Spring meetings, our Pods that continued to meet through Zoom, and our Board and Exhibition Committee Zoom meetings. I know I sound like an ad for Zoom, but the application has really helped our organization continue to grow and prosper.
I would also like to give a big round of applause to our Exhibition Committee who continue to offer exhibitions throughout the pandemic in a COVID safe manner, and presenting some of the exhibits online for those that were unable to make it in person. They persevere and adapt to new rules and guidelines in order to continue to offer our members exhibition opportunities.
The Fall Meeting marks the beginning of our next year. We have found three new members willing to join the Board this Fall for our upcoming year! Valerie Long has agreed to Co-President with me, Martha Stevermer will be taking over the Treasurer position, and Danielle Festa is joining us as a Member at Large. We have room for more Board members - we could use a Social Media person, and we are always looking for Members at Large to input new ideas and help us evolve and grow. And the Exhibition Committee is always looking for new members too! Email info@wcanh.org for more information.

Elizabeth D'Amico has installed a variety of work from hand pulled prints - linocuts, collagraphs, solar etchings, and monotypes – to watercolors and mixed media collages at Blue Loon Bakery just off Main Street in New London at 12 Lovering Lane. Work is displayed throughout the inside eating/sitting areas and was selected with a bakery theme in mind. Bakery hours are 8am - 2pm daily, but closed Mondays and Tuesdays. “New Hampshire Now: A Photographic Diary of the Granite State,” is a nearly three-year project which highlights daily life in the state. It includes the work of 46 photographers, resulting in a book and eight simultaneous exhibits, which will open in each region on October 1, 2021.

I have an art show at The Bagel Mill Café in Peterborough through to September 30th called “Dump Art.” I collect found objects at our local landfill and mount them on a canvas incorporating my photograph. “The Tray” is an example.

Artist Trading Card’s for 2021
If you are unfamiliar with Artist Trading Cards, they are little pieces of art that we trade, much like kids used to trade baseball cards back in the day.
We ask that each participating artist make six cards, based on a set of themes every other month, and mail them to me. I will then assemble a random collection of cards for each participant, and one set for the archives. Your surprise collection of ATC’s will arrive in the mail a week or two after the deadline! I challenge you to give it a try, especially if you never have made ATC’s before – it might provide a creative spark you weren’t expecting
If you are making an ATC, there is really only one guideline. They measure 2 ½” x 3 ½”. After that, it’s all up to you! ATC’s can be made of any material your creative mind can think of. Many people cut watercolor paper to size and base their work on that, but we have ATC’s in our archives made entirely of fiber, glass and acetate, to name a few. Be creative! Polymer clay, metal, wood, quilting - what is your specialty? ATC’s can be dimensional or flat, painted or collaged, have moving pieces, tags, embellishments or anything you can dream up. Bring your skill set to the practice and see what happens.
In our swap, we use three themes – or jumping off points – to inspire our cards. You can use just one of the suggestions, combine two, or incorporate all three in your ATC. They are only meant as a starting point, and you should bring your own perspective, talents and voice each time you make your cards.
Create a set of six (or seven, if you want to keep one of your own) to make it easy, fun, and cohesive.
Please include the following information on the back of your ATC(or include it with each card in some other way): Your name, the date, and the theme(s) you chose. You may also want to include your website, e-mail, or other contact information.
Send your SIX cards with a self-addressed, stamped envelope (VERY important, if you want to receive cards back!!) and get them to me around the 1st of the month. If you have any questions about the program, please e-mail me at WendyANH@yahoo.com.

Girls at Work is a nonprofit group in Manchester that works at empowering girls with woodworking and building. They are having their first ever Women's Artisan Fair this Oct 15th and 16th and are looking for women artists to submit works for consideration. The Lakes Region Group
The Lakes Region Group Monthly meeting will be on September 11 at 10am-12 in person. The meeting will be at a members home so please contact Anne McMillan for the details. Artist's Meeting Point (AMP)
AMP, the just north of Concord Pod, will be meeting at 10 a.m. on September 13. We'll be sharing our art work and ideas. We will meet in person at TWIGGS Gallery. Bring a lawn chair and your work to show!! Also if you want to stay for lunch (12-1), bring that as well for our outside chitchat and in person catch up.
