Happy Thanksgiving!

As we prepare for Thanksgiving, we want to thank you for being part of our Peabody Community. We are so grateful to have the privilege of educating your children and watching them grow. We value the partnership we have with you.

Thanksgiving is a time to be close to loved ones and express gratitude, but we all realize that we need to make some sacrifices to keep our community safe. Gathering with too many people this year puts all of us at a higher risk for COVID-19. Please check out the CDC website for some helpful information about how to safely celebrate this year!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Encore Virtual Talent Show!

We're providing a quick update to let you know that this past Friday we inadvertently uploaded a Talent Show video that left out several performances. We apologize for the mix up and thank you for your patience with our learning curve in the world of virtual talent shows.

Here is the link to the updated 2020 Talent Show that includes the performances we previously left out. Thanks again for encouraging music and creative practice in your households.

From the Health Clinic

A few changes that will start after Thanksgiving:

  • We’ve noticed our thermometers have been struggling on some of these colder mornings and in an effort to get the most accurate results, we will now switch to checking temps just inside the door. A greeter will still meet each car at the same assigned entrance to check their SchoolDoc health screening and then students will walk up to the door to have their temp checked before entering.

  • The Thomas Jefferson Health District has changed their name to the Blue Ridge Health District effective January 1, 2021.

  • In order to align with the most recent recommendations from the TJHD, we have added an additional question to the morning health screening. It will read, “Is anyone in the household currently being tested for COVID-19?”. If the answer is yes, we are asking that any students in the household remain home until the individual being tested receives a negative PCR test result.

  • A note about testing: The TJHD and local pediatricians have recently reinforced with schools that only standard PCR test results will be accepted when determining if a student is safe to return to school. Rapid tests can result in a false negative and therefore a negative rapid result must still be confirmed with a negative PCR test.
Virtual Book Fair!

The Peabody Book Fair is coming soon! Please look for information after Thanksgiving!
2020-21 Annual Fund Kick-Off

The 2020-21 Annual Fund is now officially underway!

Your participation in the Peabody Annual Fund provides essential operating support to Peabody. The generosity of our community supports almost everything that keeps Peabody running, from salaries and classroom technology to arts and supplies. This year, we are also faced with increased expenses for items such as technology infrastructure upgrades, outdoor learning spaces, additional cleaning supplies and protective equipment, and additional aid to Peabody students and families who felt the financial impact of COVID-19. We hope that you will support Peabody in this area and that you will keep in mind that your Annual Fund gift, of any size, really matters to the school.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of a gift to Peabody School for the 2020-21 year and for being such strong supporters of our wonderful school!
