Youth Ministry News - October 2020
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love,
any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy,
complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love,
being in full accord and of one mind.

As I sit to compose this first email newsletter of an all-new, all-different school year, this reading from today's Mass strikes me! How often over the past half-year have we felt isolated & disconnected? Then we get this beautiful reminder from St. Paul: no matter what is happening, be in accord with one another. He uses the language of being of the same mind - this language was used to describe the kind of community that the earliest forms of our Church have always strived to achieve. If you are out there as a parent, student, or family, know this - you are not alone. You are seen and loved, not only by myself and our parish community, but by the Lord of Love Himself, Jesus Christ.

Below you'll find a listing of the things that are in store for our middle school and high school students in the month of October. I hope that you or your child will be able to join us for some of these offerings. May God richly bless you!

In Christ,
Bradley Barnes, Coordinator of Youth Ministry
Monthly Spotlight:
Youth Ministry in a New Room!
As we begin to move youth ministry events inside, we are excited to begin using "Bishop Rehring Hall" as our new meeting location. This space provides us with direct access to the lower parking lot, gym proximity, space to spread out, and more! It will be such a blessing as we partner with other groups using the space to beautify it - look for Father King to do a room blessing in the weeks to come!
This month's First Friday Youth Night will be held on October 2nd from 5:00-7:00 pm. These events happen monthly and begin with communal recreation that leads into games, fellowship, and prayer. Parent and high school volunteers are constantly needed for these events!
High School Youth Group meets weekly on Thursdays from 7:00 - 8:30 pm. Our first October meeting (October 1st) will be a fall bonfire and social. This month's theme is "Choosing Virtue," where we explore how righteousness effects our ability to make sound decisions and to follow virtuous leaders.
COVID Procedures for Events
*Current COVID procedures require that students bring masks for check-in/check-out and indoor activities. If students do not have one, they can be provided. All participants are also temperature checked before participating. We ask that those participating to remain alert to any potential symptoms prior to the event. Hand sanitizer and hand washing stations will be available.

Students are required to keep a Youth Ministry Release and Contact & Medical Form on file for the year. You can digitally complete forms by following the link, or email the Youth Office to see if they are already on file.
Our youth ministry community is growing, but we need you! Adults of any age will be key in continuing to offer safe, friendly, and faith-filled activities and opportunities for students. We are asking any adult to fill out this Adult Interest Survey.

We are asking every family to fill out a Small Group Survey for each student so that we can find or create youth ministry opportunities that will best fit your student during the school year (find more information on our website.).
