Congrats to Kat Li on receiving the Department of Medicine Spirit of DOM Award for her tireless work managing DHM operations and exemplifying the UCSF PRIDE Values. Additionally, we congratulate Kat for her new role as Division Manager, Division of Palliative Medicine. While we are thrilled to see Kat’s career advance, she will be sorely missed. Kat has been a member of DHM since 2008 and has risen from Analyst I to her current role as Assistant Division Manager. She truly is the backbone of this division! We wish her all the best, and we’re glad she’s not going too far (DPM is also on CSB 5). Congrats, Kat!

Equity & Belonging in Hospital Medicine
When thinking about quick ways to promote positivity and inclusivity at work, the use of micro-affirmations is a powerful means of allyship. Micro-affirmations are subtle acknowledgements of a person's value and accomplishments which create a sense of belonging.

Examples include: publicly attributing credit to someone for saying or doing something, saying hello to someone in an elevator, making a kind email introduction to someone else, asking someone for their valued opinion, using friendly expressions and gestures, and paying attention to and acknowledging the small wonderful things about others. In short, being intentional about being nice to everyone! Try using micro-affirmations on a daily basis to show kindness and nurture a sense of belonging in the workplace and learning environments.

"We would like to give a huge shout out to Charles Chu for his gold standard approach to MDR. We appreciate his organization with anticipated EDD as well as his communication around potential DC barriers that CM/SW sound be aware of! His ability to consistently offer these items during MDR is so helpful to the CM/SW team. We also appreciate his collaboration on our complex medicine discharges! We are so thrilled that Charles is part of our team!"
