OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU!
These last few months have been difficult for so many due to the personal and economic impact of Covid-19. Unfortunately, this will be felt for a long time to come. As a Jewish community, we understand it as our obligation to give back and to try to make sure that nobody in our extended network suffers from hunger. That is why we launched the Temple Kol Ami Community Food Project, (partnering with Hazon) a weekly food pantry providing food items, which is open to all, and may be revisited each week.
12 to 15 volunteers are needed every Thursday between 9:30 and 2:00 to help receive, organize and distribute the food provided by Hazon. The process will ensure the safety and privacy of both volunteers and clients. Volunteers can sign up for one or more of three available shifts described in the sign-up. Sign-ups are required.
If you would like to volunteer for one of the three shifts described below, go to www.Signon.com, create an account if you do not already have one, then select TKA Food Project Volunteers from the Invitations pull down menu.
Or you can go directly to the following link: VOLUNTEER
Call Rochelle Rubin at 238-421-6827 if you have any difficultly signing up on this web site.
Shift 1:
- Hazon delivers food between 9:30 and 10:00 a.m. Volunteers organize and sort the food into packages for the recipients.
Shift 2:
- Volunteers help finalize packing when they first arrive. Then, they safely greet neighbors and load their vehicles with their portion of the weekly food items.
Shift 3:
- Volunteers will continue to greet neighbors and load their vehicles with the weekly food items. This team will also help with cleaning up, storing tables, containers and remaining non-perishable food at the end of the day.
