Resolutions

“Life is not a problem to be solved but a reality to be experienced”
Soren Kierkegaard

On behalf of the Demitasse Players, we wish you all a happy, safe, and healthy New year.

When contemplating this year’s New Year’s Resolution, we may consider not to choose to live the Hivemind. The Hivemind is a collective consciousness in which we share consensus thoughts, emotions, and opinions: a phenomenon whereby a group of people act as if a single mind. Where we willfully exchange our mind for crowd acceptance.

Well, maybe the New Year is a good time to reflect and to rise above our frail condition and convention to view how we frame our micro-moments in life. In essence, to warehouse our good memories and shred are negative memories like unwanted bills. And, to offer forgiveness, hold no grievances, to rise to our higher selves, and to build a better and constructive life for ourselves.

“All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson.

I will now direct you to the latest recorded version of the first song I composed many years ago. Special kudos to Drew Caico, for his string accompaniment and for his arrangements.

The inspiration for this song that set me on my artistic path came when my then wife, surprised me with a gift of a new 12-string acoustic guitar. I can still remember the smile on her face as she watched me unwrap the guitar and take it out of the guitar case. Her happiness was infectious.

I captured this happy micro-moment of life by composing my first song, A Smile for Beverly. A memory for sure to be remembered and shared. Now, A Smile for Beverly. I do hope this reflective song brings a smile to your soul.
