Engagement is defined as arranging to meet or be present at a specified time and place. Most recently, our face-to-face meetings have been replaced by virtual events. During this workshop we will help determine how sisterhoods can keep their members engaged and share our best practices and plans for the future.

WRJ and Social Justice: Raising
Our Voices Today for a
Better Tomorrow
October 7, 7:30 PM
Andrea Stillman and Jane Taves
For more than 100 years WRJ has worked tirelessly toward a variety of social justice initiatives. From advancing women’s leadership and equality in Jewish life and in society at large to championing numerous critical social justice issues, WRJ has been at the forefront of major efforts in the work of tikkun olam, repairing the world. To some of us, getting involved with advocacy seems daunting or out of our comfort zone. Perhaps you would be surprised that becoming involved can be quite simple. This workshop will take you through some basic steps and share with you current campaigns including Reproductive Health and Rights, gender pay equity and the Reform Movement’s civic engagement campaign to get out the vote.

Mah Jongg is Life!
October 14, 7:30 PM
Rachel Maryn and Rhona Arbit
The game of Mah Jongg has been played in one form or another for thousands of years. While you may not agree that it is life…it is a lot like life. We will discuss how decisions made and paths taken while playing the game can correlate to how we make decisions that impact our lives. You do not need to be a Mah Jongg player to join us for a discussion that will be both thoughtful and lively.

District Awards
Did your sisterhood have an outstanding program that you want everyone to know about? Has your sisterhood been involved in a social action program that you feel deserves recognition? Do you have women who have stepped up to serve year after year? Do you have women who are rising leaders?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should nominate your sisterhood and its members for recognition of programming and individual achievements. Awards will be announced in conjunction with the District Convention.
