Nurturing Through Nature Workshop and Meet & Greet
Monday, October 18, 12:00-1:00 PM
Feeling overwhelmed with challenging behaviors in your classroom? Want to spend more time outside with your children but aren't sure where to start? Child-led play and time in nature are evidence-based practices that can help, and we're here to support you!
Our time together will include a Q&A with our new Nature/Play Consultant Susan Chlebowski and TA Coach Elizabeth Marcello, who will provide an overview of additional coaching options for child care and SACC facilities interested in expanding outdoor learning and/or child-led play. Open to directors/administrators, owners, and teachers.

Start Strong: Social Emotional Learning Foundations and Resiliency in Infants and Toddlers from Conscious Discipline Community of Practice
Early Childhood Teachers are invited to participate in a COP that will use Start Strong as the foundation. Upon successful completion of 5 ZOOM meetings and short homework activities, participants will receive 6 hours of Professional Development. Successful completion will satisfy STARS Indicator SQ 3.4.4.
*The first session starts October 19th so register ASAP if interested!

Family and Group Child Care Boot Camp
The ELRC is expanding its Boot Camp offerings to include Family and Group providers! Please see the flyer for information regarding the new 5-part series and how to register (link in flyer). Please keep in mind that the series is intended for FCCH and GCCH providers who have been operating less than 3 years.

Teacher Boot Camp
Are you a new or beginning teacher? Do you feel like you could use more support in your day-to-day classroom responsibilities? The Coaches in ELRC Regions 8, 9, & 10 have created a FREE 5-week Boot Camp to teach you everything you need to know! The series is designed as a hybrid model, some sessions live and some recorded, to accommodate teachers in their classrooms. Session topics are listed on the flyer. Attendance, participation, and homework is required to receive 2 PQAS hours per session or 10 hours for the entire series.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The American Cancer Society recommends that women with an average risk of breast cancer have annual mammograms begriming at the age of 45. If you do have a personal history of breast cancer, a genetic mutation known to increase risk of breast cancer, or a family history of breast cancer, you may need a mammogram at an earlier age. Check with your doctor. No matter your risk, women should be doing a self-breast exam every month. Below is a guide for how do a breast exam. Remember, we want to keep everyone healthy, not just the children in our care, but also our parents and our staff.

Children’s Environmental Health Day
The Children’s Environmental Health Network (CEHN) established Children’s Environmental Health (CEH) Day in 2016, to be recognized every second Thursday of October. This year it falls on October 14, 2021. It is a day for the children’s environmental health community to raise awareness of children’s health issues, celebrate successes in the field, share exciting new initiatives, and discuss new challenges and the road ahead. CEH Day is also a day of action. This is where you can help!
