Weekly E-Newsletter, Friday, September 25th
Good Afternoon Residents -

Welcome to the first weekend of Fall!

The Supervisor's 2021 budget was presented at last weeks Town Board meeting. The Town Board will be fine-tuning it over the course of the next couple of weeks, but should you wish to review it, please click here. As expected, this years budget was a challenge. In addition to the large COVID-related revenue losses, New York State increased the Town's pension contributions by over a million dollars. We have some tough years ahead of us, but with all of us watching our bottom line and working together, we will prevail.

To our residents of the Jewish faith, have an easy fast.

Enjoy your weekend everyone and stay safe.

Respectfully,

Teresa M. Kenny

Pet of the Week

Ace, an 11 week-old Miniature Schnauzer, joined our family just two weeks ago! He hops like a bunny when he is happy and puts everything in his mouth. His favorite activity is to run around the house with his human brother and he loves to sleep with his mommy at 3 am. We have fallen in love with our green-eyed little boy!

Want to see your pet here? Send an email to Supervisor@Orangetown.com. Thank you.

The results of the 2020 Census will help determine how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding flow into communities every year for the next decade. That funding shapes many different aspects of every community, no matter the size, no matter the location.

Census results affect planning and funding for employment and training—including programs for vocational rehabilitation state grants, dislocated workers, and American Indian and Alaska Native employment and training.

Fill out your form. Last day is September 30th.
National Registers of Historic Places
Supervisor Teresa M. Kenny and Mary Cardenas, Town Historian, with members of the John Green Preservation Coalition, on a recent tour.
The John Green House, Nyack
The John Green House (JGH) is the oldest remaining Dutch Colonial Sandstone structure in the Village of Nyack NY, built by John Edward Green (1772-1842) in the year 1819. It is listed on both the New York and National Registers of Historic Places.

John Green’s contributions to Rockland County were broad and impactful.  By the time Green died in 1842 at age 60, he had seen tremendous change in the village and could safely say that he had played an important role in making that change happen.
The house, however, has fallen into disrepair in recent years, narrowly avoiding the wrecking ball on a number of occasions.

The John Green Preservation Coalition (JGPC) is a local non-profit 501(c)(3) organization formed in 2015 whose mission is to rehabilitate the building for a new use and restore the exterior to its early appearance.

The John Green House is located in Nyack, NY at the foot of Main Street near the Hudson River. The house is not currently open to the Public.
