Dear Friends:
Greetings from Globalize DC! I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe during this very difficult and surreal time.
I'm writing to let you know about two very different global education opportunities that have come to my attention:
2020-2021 Distinguished Awards in Teaching Short-Term Program (Fulbright DAST)
Program Dates: October 2020-May 2021 (Cycle II)
Application Deadline: April 27, 2020
Ev
en though the idea of traveling abroad seems hard to imagine at this point, this US State Department-funded opportunity is scheduled for next school year and applications are now being accepted. Administered by IREX, Fulbright DAST sends expert US K-12 educators abroad to support projects in schools, teacher training colleges, government ministries, or educational nongovernmental organizations. These two- to six-week professional development experiences are fully funded and will take place
in Colombia, India, Mexico, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. Program activities may include developing trainings, writing curricula, supporting pre-service or in-service educators, and collaborating with peers to update teacher training processes and curricula.
Table for Two: "Wa-Shokuiku - Learn, Cook, Eat Japanese" Online Course
Looking for a unique educational program for children during school closures? Or do you want to learn how to eat healthy and prepare Japanese food? Table for Two is now offering their wonderful online food education course "Wa-Shokuiku - Learn. Cook. Eat Japanese!" for free! Through this course, you will learn the principles of Japanese cuisine and food culture, and gain the skills to prepare healthy, nutritious foods to strengthen our bodies and minds! Globalize DC's Japanese Pus students participated in field testing this online course, and they loved it! It's appropriate for elementary through senior high school students. Even adults will enjoy it!
Please share these opportunities with any educators, parents, or students who might have an interest. And stay safe!
