Resources and Support for Students After the Election
Dear Educators,

The results of the presidential and state elections may have a significant impact on our students, families and team members. Students and adults are experiencing added stress this year caused by a global pandemic and racial unrest, and we anticipate the election may cause an increase in feelings of uncertainty. As a trauma-informed district, we value the social and emotional wellness of our school community and want to ensure staff, students and families are supported during this time. We are also committed to being a Safe and Welcoming School District for all students and families.

That’s why we have put together resources and supports for our educators that can help you navigate post-election discussions with students and community members. You can access these resources here.

This year's election date is Tuesday, Nov. 3. We have previously shared information on how to practice your civic duty while also following guidelines that apply to public employees — click here to learn more.

Many thanks,
Tamara and Mike
This Week's Top Things to Know
Remote Learning Resources
As we shift back to remote learning for grades 3-5, and with the extension of remote learning for grades 6-12, we wanted to share a reminder of the guidance and resources available to support our educators with remote teaching. The Academics and Remote Learning pages on the Return to School site on The Commons has guidance on grading and attendance as well as curricular resources by content area. In addition, this Scheduling Guidance Folder (which can be found under “Key Resources” on the right side of the Academics and Remote Learning page) has specific information for each grade level.

We appreciate all of our educators’ efforts to make this quick transition back to remote learning, and we are committed to providing the resources and guidance to continue a successful quarter. If you have specific questions, please contact your school leader.

To date, schools have received 90,000 child-sized cloth masks, 170,000 adult-sized cloth masks, 10,000 face shields, 9,000 disinfectant spray bottles and 1,400 gallons of hand sanitizer. In addition, we distribute 10,000 KN95 masks every week thanks to the Governor’s office. If you are running low on any PPE, please work with your school leader and operational superintendent.
