 Part Two

Acts 20:35
Proverbs 11:24 (Mes)
Luke 6:38
Proverbs 11:24 (NCV)
Proverbs 19:17

Sunday, October 17
9:00 and 10:30 a.m.

Generosity is one of the most beautiful things in life. A Generous Life is the theme of our 2022 Generosity Campaign and Pastor Kellen's October sermon series. When we plant seeds of generosity in the church, our lives bloom with the beauty of God's goodness. In our giving, we experience the promises of God. Accompanying the sermon series, we’ll spend three weeks in prayer.

Three Weeks of Prayer
Sunday, October 10 – Praying for the Vision of First Pres Wheaton
Sunday, October 17 – Praying that God would bless us with the resources to fulfill our mission
Sunday, October 24 – Praying for how God is calling you to respond

Generosity Sunday
Sunday, October 31 – Committing our pledged gifts to the Lord for 2022

  • You will have an opportunity to fill out a 2022 Generosity Card and return it in person, by mail or online
  • To set up a 2022 Electronic Funds Transfer, download the EFT form and return to the office.

"How to Avoid Heresy (and Embrace Orthodoxy)"
October 17-November 7
Led by: Dr. David McNutt and Dr. Jennifer McNutt

How do we know what to believe (and what not to believe) when it comes to the Christian faith? Do you find it difficult to navigate competing ideas about who Jesus is, how to understand the Trinity, and how we are saved? We might not use the term “heresy” much today, and not every disagreement rises to that level, but throughout the church’s history, it has been important for followers of Jesus Christ to distinguish orthodoxy (right belief) from heresy. This four-week class will introduce people to some of the most significant heresies in the history of the church and how they shaped belief and practice. We will discuss the importance of orthodoxy, the role of heresy, and and theologies regarding Scripture, Jesus Christ, the Trinity, salvation, and the church.

October 17: On the importance of orthodoxy, the role of heresy, and Scripture
Christmas Sharing 2021
Saturday, December 11

Once again Christmas Sharing will look a little different than in previous years. Thanks to our members and church, last year we were able to cover the cost of three boxes of food and $100-$150 (depending on family size) worth of Walmart gift cards for each family. In addition we gave out approximately 200 coats to children in District 200.

The board hopes to expand on what was provided last year. We will be giving away a similar amount of coats to children in District 200 that were bought on clearance earlier this year. Along with this, we will be filling boxes with a specific list of “nonfood” items. Lists and empty boxes will be provided in November. Filled boxes should be dropped off at Holy Cross Church Monday through Friday on the week of the event.

Watch for more details. Questions can be directed via email to Sharon Carroll.
