Frost Ridge Maple Farm is the third largest maple syrup producer in Pennsylvania. Owner Michele Mihailov reached out for assistance in applying for the USDA's Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grant to fund the implementation of a new reverse osmosis system. The maple producer was awarded a total of $36,565 in grants after our assistance. Read more.

The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development is soliciting proposals from research-led teams at any accredited PA college/university engaged in a research project that seeks to advance a new product or process innovation with a PA manufacturer. Award levels for individual projects can range from $25,000 to $70,000. Learn more and submit your proposal.

Penn State New Kensington, in partnership with the city of New Kensington, has launched the city’s first-ever Sustainability Stroll to highlight local businesses and organizations, and history, while also connecting them to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Our technical advisor located at Corner LaunchBox in New Kensington assisted with energy and sustainability review efforts at the different sites included on the stroll. Read more.
The DEP is offering rebates to Pennsylvania agricultural producers for energy efficiency projects. Applications are being accepted effective September 20, 2021, and rebates are offered on a first-come, first-served basis as long as funding is available, through March 31, 2022. Rebates are available for:
  • LED lighting (interior or exterior)
  • Variable frequency drives for milk vacuum pumps
  • Variable frequency drives for ventilation fans
