UPDATE: LASKIN ROAD TRAFFIC SHIFT IMPLEMENTED NEAR
HILLTOP NORTH SHOPPING CENTER IN VIRGINIA BEACH
UPDATE: The traffic shift outlined below is now in place on westbound Laskin Road at Hilltop North Shopping Center. For safety reasons as part of this traffic shift, left turns from Nevan Road onto westbound Laskin Road, as well as left turns from westbound Laskin Road onto Nevan Road have been restricted. This traffic pattern is expected to be in place for approximately three months.
VIRGINIA BEACH - As construction continues on the Laskin Road Bridge Replacement and Widening Project, crews will implement a traffic shift on westbound Laskin Road between the Hilltop North signalized intersection and First Colonial Road, as early as Thursday, Sept. 24.

The traffic shift will move both lanes of westbound traffic in this location, just in front of the Hilltop North Shopping Center, about 25 feet to the right. This shift will allow utility work to occur safely in the median of Laskin Road.

Westbound traffic will then be shifted back to its original alignment just before the First Colonial Road intersection. Traffic heading east (toward the oceanfront) will remain on its current alignment in this location.

While the traffic shift is in place, entrances into the Hilltop North Shopping Center will not change, although utility work could temporarily close one entrance at a time.

Motorists traveling through the work zone should obey the posted speed limit at all times and be mindful of crews working alongside the roadway.

Lane closures in this location on Laskin Road are permitted Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
The white arrows indicate the approximate new alignment for motorists traveling on westbound Laskin Road in front of the Hilltop North Shopping Center in Virginia Beach. Eastbound traffic (toward the oceanfront) in this location will remain on its current alignment.
