What the World Needs Now:
Clear Minds
Psalm 4

There are many who [think], “O that we might see some good!” Psalm 4:6a

O that we might see some good!” This could have been the title for a pandemic theme song. One struggle and setback after another can do a great deal of damage to the mentality of individuals and collective groups. You begin to wonder if even “some good” will ever be seen again. History suggests that we do come through, and out of, such seasons. It is often those who can take in the broad horizon of the experience and imagine life in a new world with a clear mind that guide others into the “Great Next.” Clear minds see a way and offer the best of themselves to what the world needs now.
News and A Look At What's Coming Up

Feet Under the Same Table: Foundations for Allyship will meet on Monday, April 19, at 5:30pm in the Fellowship Hall. There are a few spots left at the table if you'd like to join!

The relational richness derived when we find ourselves sharing a meal is unmatched and can lay
the foundation for allyship and racial reconciliation. Adonica will host up to 9 women for a meal and bold conversation once a month beginning April 19th. Participants must RSVP and will be asked to contribute $10.00 for the cost of the catered meal.

Who wrote this verse? Taylor Swift or the Book of Revelation? "I know they said the end is near."
Want to find out? Join us Sunday at 7:00pm via ZOOM as we break open faith themes using the music we love! This week we explore doubt, loss and liberation with a little help from a classic 80's pop song and the cast of Hamilton. Join us! Link in your parents' email.
Join your pastors and friends on the Zoom @ Noon. The group meets for a bit less than an hour, and you never know whose face you'll see or voice you'll hear! Mark, Terry and John will be available over the noon hour this Monday for conversation and reflection - the casual and important moments that we miss on Sunday morning! Just click on the image and join the conversation.
What an honor to celebrate the life and contribution of John Rawlings with his family this past weekend! The welcoming remembrance is now placed where John brought his song.

We want to thank the volunteers who helped on our recent workdays. With all of your help so much was accomplished on our church property!

Thank you!

We hope to see you this Saturday, April 17th, for our next hike! We’ll hike the 6.2 mile Moon Loop Trail. There isn’t a lot of parking at this trailhead so we'll meet at the church at 8:30am to carpool those who can. We’ll begin the hike at 9:00am and plan to finish by noon.

This trail is in Mark Twain National Forest Land on the opposite side of HWY 63 from Rock Bridge State Park & Three Creeks Conservation Area. “The name Moon Loop refers to the moon-like appearance of the area cause by soil erosion in the 1930s." This trail is labeled as generally easy. Ticks will be an issue in the grass so be sure to wear tick repellant, long pants or tall socks. Again, bring at least 1 liter of water and dress in shoes/boots for hiking and clothing you can move easily in. Dogs are allowed on a leash. If it rains Friday, this will be muddy.

After our hike we’ll go get TACOS nearby the church at either Rio Grande or La Terraza.

As Children's Ministries makes plans for an outdoor, in-person, return this summer, we are hoping to recreate our extra large Worship and Wonder storytelling pieces. Unfortunately, this effort is made more challenging because the price of lumber and plywood has skyrocketed! We are hoping that some of our woodworking friends might have some larger scrap pieces of wood or plywood that they might be willing to donate. Any wood donations need to be 1/2 inch thick and a minimum of 8 inches x 18 inches. If you can help, please contact Aimee, [email protected] to arrange a drop-off.
Book clubs, prayer groups, parenting support, racial allyship and more! Plenty of space still for you to jump into a group at anytime.

Please join us for an introductory workshop and virtual retreat on the spiritual practice of Centering Prayer. Participants will explore the history and method of this contemporary discipline and discover the fruits that Centering Prayer can bear in one’s life. Sessions will blend instruction, Q/A, and periods of centering prayer designed to both form and inform. This workshop serves as a great introduction for new comers and offers a chance to dive deeper for more experienced practitioners. While all sessions will be conducted virtually, Broadway will offer the option to ZOOM from designated prayer rooms at the church. Prayer rooms will provide a COVID-friendly, silent space to engage virtually for participants who may not have such a space at their own home. Our day is offered in partnership with Contemplative Outreach of Central Missouri. If questions, please contact John DeLaporte at [email protected].
Since the founding of Broadway’s Memorial Garden in 2004, the contribution for plots has remained the same. Last summer the Memorial Garden Committee did some much needed maintenance to the brick pavement, added two trees, ten bushes, a drip water system and a new plaque board. No funds from the church’s property budget are used for the garden. After a survey of memorial gardens in the area in early 2020, the committee voted to increase the cost of the contribution be raised from $500 per plot to $800 a plot or two plots for $1500. Even with this increase, Broadway’s Memorial Garden is still several hundred dollars below the cost of other gardens in the county. The increases were to start on May 1, 2020, but because of Covid-19 the committee decided to wait a year. The new rates are now in effect. If you would like more information about the Memorial Garden please click here or contact the church office at 573.445.5312 and we’ll send you a brochure.
Racial Healing Project Event

The Community Remembrance Project of Boone County Missouri (CRP-BC-MO) welcomes your participation in our efforts to address past and present racism in our community, starting with our community’s history of racial terror. We are focusing specifically on the murders by lynching of James Scott and George Bush.

Our Boone County group is affiliated with the CRP of Missouri, a group established by Missourians in partnership with the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) to raise public awareness, facilitate education and work toward reconciliation in coordination with communities throughout the state regarding Missouri's history of racial injustice.

On April 29th at 4:00pm you are invited to a soil collection ceremony and a rededication of the memorial plaque at the site of Mr. Scott’s murder, on the MKT trail. April 29th is the 98th anniversary of Mr. Scott’s death. Soil will be collected to fill three jars provided by EJI. The intent is to display these locally, at the Black Archives of Mid-America in Kansas City and at EJI in Montgomery, Alabama.
For more information, email [email protected] or find us on Facebook @CRPofBooneCountyMO.
