Sharing the Heart of God from the Heart of Downtown Macon

Small Group for Adults with School-Age Children Starting Soon! | |
Since the earliest days of the Church, Christians have gathered to share life together. At the end of Acts 2, we read about how, after Pentecost, the early Christians “broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts” (2:46b). In our own tradition of United Methodism, small groups were at the heart of the early Methodist movement. As John Wesley preached about God’s grace and the importance of growing in one’s relationship with God, he encouraged followers to gather together in small groups where members were required to “do no harm, do good, and stay in love with God.” In my own life, small groups have been essential for my own spiritual growth. For example, I would not be where I’m at today if it weren’t for the impact my youth group had on my faith formation.
Given that small groups are great places to grow in one’s faith, we are excited to launch a small group for adults with school-age children at home! The group will meet monthly at Rose and Stebin Horne’s home, and it is going to be a great time of food, fellowship, and conversation! Stebin and Rose shared with me that “we are excited to open up our home to the Mulberry family and look forward to growing closer with old and new friends through this small group!”
The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 3, from 6:30-8:30, and the Hornes are going to provide the main entree and invite those joining to bring side dishes. The Church will provide child care, so children are welcome! We hope that you’ll consider joining this new group, and if you do plan to attend, please contact me or Rose (rosehorne78@gmail.com) so we can have you on our email list!
