Absence Reporting Procedure

Delaware City Schools is once again utilizing the automated student absence reporting system called Safe Arrival. This system reduces the time it takes to verify student attendance making it easier for you to report your child's absence and easier for staff to respond to unexplained student absences.
Safe Arrival allows parents to report their child's absence quickly and conveniently in several ways:
1.  Parents can log into a website, go.schoolmessenger.com to access a Safe Arrival Parent Portal where an account can be set up to report absences. The email used to set up the account must match the email you gave to the school.

2.  Parents can call into an automated interactive telephone system via a toll free number (1-844-817-5313) through which absences can be reported.

3.  If you have an Android or Apple device, you can also download the School Messenger app. You can go to the Google Play store or the Apple App and search using the keyword "School Messenger". Download the app with the blue swirl logo.

Suzuki Strings 2021-2022 Registration Form

Delaware City Schools offers instruction in Suzuki viola, violin, and cello to learners with a desire to develop into successful musicians. The DCS Suzuki program auditions are only available to students in the first grade, and second grade for this school year ONLY due to pausing the auditions last year.

Students must complete a musical aptitude screening which takes about half an hour. During the screening they will listen to different sounds or tones and compare them.

This year the assessment for first graders will be given on Tuesday, September 14, at 4:00 p.m. in a specified room at Schultz Elementary School.

The assessment for second graders will be given on Thursday, September 16, at 4:00 p.m. in a specified room at Schultz Elementary School.

Delaware City School District orchestra teachers Stacy Lemke and Abby Wimbiscus Black will be conducting the screenings.

Please complete the registration form below by Friday, September 10th.

Preschool Families

We enjoyed seeing your children in our building this week! Our teachers are working to build relationships and establish routines with our youngest learners.

In order to make arrival and dismissal run efficiently, please note the following:
  • For AM classes, families should not enter the Car Loop line prior to 8:35 a.m. Preschool staff will come out at 8:35 to escort preschool students into the building. This allows our K-5 families to drop off their students first. Our school-age staff are at that drop-off site prior to 8:35 a.m. and do not always recognize a child as a preschool student, so it is critical that preschool students do not arrive until 8:35 a.m.
  • For PM classes, staff will be outside at 12:30 p.m. to escort preschool students into the building.
  • If you are picking up your child in the Car Loop line, please do not exit your car until a staff member has escorted your child to your vehicle. We want to make sure that we are loading only the vehicles near the front of the Car Loop line in order to keep the line moving as quickly as possible.
  • If you need to change the way your child is getting home (Car Loop instead of Bus, different pick-up person, etc.), please call the Main Office at 740-833-1600 prior to 10:45 a.m. for morning classes and prior to 2:30 p.m. for afternoon classes.

Teachers are engaged with students during the day and may not see a message or email from you until after dismissal. Our office staff will communicate any changes to your child's end-of-day routine to the Preschool Team.
