FERRY SCHEDULE CHANGES ON ALL ROUTES EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 8
San Francisco Bay Ferry will implement schedule changes on all routes on Monday, November 8, 2021. Most of these changes are minor in nature and restricted to the midday hours on weekdays. However, for the Vallejo route, there are also schedule changes in the evening commute hours and on weekends. The schedule revisions will also reduce some major gaps, particularly in the late afternoon on weekdays and weekend evenings.

The South San Francisco route and Alameda Short Hop will also launch on November 8.

You can find the schedule changes outlined on our website.
PROJECT TO SLASH EMISSIONS ON 4 FERRIES BEGINS
WETA, the agency that provides San Francisco Bay Ferry service, has announced a major project to reduce air pollution emissions on its four Gemini-class passenger ferries.

In September 2021, the WETA Board of Directors approved a $5.5 million project to upgrade the engines on the agency’s four Gemini-class vessels to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The first engine replacement is scheduled to begin in the coming days and the full project is expected to be completed in early 2023.

When complete, emissions from the upgraded ferries will be significantly reduced. Nitrogen oxide (NOx) and hydrocarbon (HC) emissions will decrease 73 percent and particular matter (PM) emissions will decrease 80 percent.

Funding for the Gemini class project came from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s (BAAQMD) Carl Moyer grant program and proceeds from Alameda County’s transportation sales tax.

The project will be completed by JT Marine, Inc., based in Vancouver, Wash.
WARRIORS, GIANTS FERRY SERVICE IN FULL SWING

San Francisco Bay Ferry is offering direct service before and after all San Francisco Giants home playoff games at Oracle Park, connecting fans in Alameda, Oakland and Vallejo to the ballpark. Tickets are available at sanfranciscobayferry.com/giants.

To maximize the number of fans who can take transit to the ballpark, San Francisco Bay Ferry is using Blue & Gold Fleet’s MV Bay Monarch, which has a capacity of 787 passengers. This vessel will operate on select Oakland and Alameda service to Oracle Park.

San Francisco Bay Ferry also launched its Chase Center ferry service this month, offering trips to and from the arena for Golden State Warriors home games for fans in Alameda and Oakland. This service was popular in 2019; reserving ferry tickets well in advance is highly recommended. Tickets can be purchased at sanfranciscobayferry.com/warriors.

San Francisco Bay Ferry is not planning to offer service to concerts or non-Warriors events at Chase Center in 2021.
FERRY TALES: MELISSA

Why is San Francisco Bay Ferry the best way to cross the bay?
We recently moved to Alameda after 5 years in Santa Cruz, and feel like we are now on the doorstep to a whole new world. Discovering the two ferry stops in Alameda has been life changing. No more sitting in our car on the bridge or struggling to find parking. For just $4.50 each way, we’re spending a fraction of what we’d pay in tolls and parking, and the schedules between the two Alameda stops means there’s always a next ride. Bonus: the views from the water!

What is your favorite ferry memory?
On our anniversary this year (we got married on a sailboat in the middle of the Bay and had our wedding dinner at La Mar) we took the ferry from Seaplane Lagoon for the first time, and it was a huge part of our special celebration!

Describe San Francisco Bay Ferry in one word.
