Jeff Freedman - SCORE South Sound/Tacoma
|
|
This month we want to recognize one of our volunteers who fully embodies both the mindset of One SCORE as well as community service overall - Jeff Freedman (SCORE South Sound/Tacoma).
Jeff has been a member of SCORE for about five years and has done an extraordinary amount of work to help clients in his community and further SCORE's reach and impact. He has been a constant promoter of SCORE programs, and regularly offers assistance in making them go farther. This is in addition to the 10-20 hours he averages each week mentoring clients.
The Real Time Mentoring platform is just one example of a project that Jeff went above and beyond to support and provide feedback on. During a post-project meeting, Jeff held a meeting with the Marketing Team that was full of in-the-field observations and suggestions to make it work much better. Even in the short time period that it was live, Jeff converted over 20 RTM inquiries into clients, with nearly 50 follow-ons as a result of his supporting the program; many clients still following-on. As SCORE HQ works on getting Live Chat available for clients, Jeff is at the top of our list for volunteers to involve in the process.
For the past six months, Jeff has been working on improving communications within the organization, including the following:
- Bi-weekly Chapter roundtables in which chapter members meet online, connect with the latest SCORE news, discuss client problem-solving and just plain staying in touch.
- National Small Markets Roundtable, with chapter leaders across the country with the same purpose, to discuss chapter organization, Engage and other topics of interest to them. Some members of the SCORE Marketing Team attended a couple of these sessions and witnessed just how productive these discussions were.
- Recently started a District 1013 Roundtable for all 220+ volunteers to get together. Their first meeting went great, with follow-up meetings already scheduled.
It is clear that the mindset of One SCORE is something that Jeff has been working with since he joined, even before it was communicated from SCORE HQ to the field.
We are extremely grateful for all of Jeff's efforts to make SCORE a trusted name in the small business community and an organization the volunteers love being a part of. We can't say thank you enough and hope everyone reading is inspired and energized by Jeff's example.

Joe Ruf - SCORE Northeast Georgia
We would like to recognize one of our volunteers who celebrated his 15th anniversary with SCORE last month - Joe Ruf (SCORE Northeast Georgia).
Joe currently lives in Hiawassee, GA, which is fairly remote in the NE corner of Georgia. Joe served his country as a member of the US Air Force, and before joining SCORE, held the role of Vice President of BellSouth Information Systems.
Joe joined SCORE in October 2005 and has been making a lasting impact in the lives of clients ever since. Joe currently serves about 20-30 clients each year and typically ends each year with an NPS score of 100 or very close. A model of SCORE's tagline "For the Life of Your Business", Joe also maintains a follow-on rate of about 80%. Since 2009, Joe has served as lead mentor or co-mentor on over 960 mentoring sessions, helping over 140 different clients!
Joe's heart for service is not limited to SCORE either. He is also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, and has made at least two overseas trips to help build houses for those is need.
