You Bid, You Danced, You Raised the Roof

Thank you, St. Catherine's, for making Raise the Roof for Japhet a success. This is a quick hello to tell you how much we appreciate everyone who made this year's gala possible. Saturday's party was fantastically fun, and your enthusiasm and generosity helped us raise $211,322 for Japhet Campus!

We'll have a more detailed recap, a full photo gallery, and many more thank-yous in next week's final issue of The 411. Stay tuned!

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS

On Thursday, April 6, St. Catherine's Montessori hosted over 100 grandparents and special friends. Guests were treated to performances by the orchestra and upper elementary choir under the direction of Mrs. Snow. We want to express our sincerest gratitude to all the grandparents and special friends who took the time to visit our school and spend the day with us. It was a joy to see so many smiling faces and share the amazing work the children and adolescents are doing. Thank you once again for making this day so special for everyone involved.

We would also like to thank the parent volunteer photographers for capturing these special moments in the classrooms: Nadia Ali, Katie Baula, Michelle Mayorga, Nazia Mirza, Juan Tamayo, and Mary Tysor.

Join us for a presentation by our current senior:

Owen Uitenbroek

The senior capstone is an opportunity for young adults to immerse themselves in a self-designed project and to exercise adult-level independence as they transition out of St. Catherine’s High School and into the next chapter of their lives.

The evening will include a musical performance by the choir and TED Talk-style presentation by Owen.

AC SPOTLIGHT

Hello SCM Families!

As some of you may know, the Adolescent Community 9th graders are taking a community service trip to Costa Rica at the end of April. In order to fundraise for this trip we are offering an AC Babysitting Night on Saturday, April 22 from 4:00-8:00 PM in the SCM Gym. We invite parents to drop their kids off at St. Catherine's and enjoy a date night on their own. There will be two adult chaperones there to oversee in case of emergency. Because the event is on Earth Day, we will be offering Earth Day-themed activities and finishing the night off with Domino’s pizza and an age-friendly movie. You are welcome to bring your own nut-free dinner if needed. The base rate is $35 with an extra $10 per sibling regardless of how long your child stays. Payment is due when you drop off your child. Children must be toilet independent. If your child has any food allergies please let us know on the sign up form here

We hope to see you there!

AC 9th graders

In our bustling community, every student has been hard at work selecting pieces to go into the 2023 edition of the Adolescent Community’s Literary Arts Magazine, Life’s A Game. Every student’s piece has been through multiple stages of revision, including writer’s workshop, where other students give feedforward suggestions on others’ pieces of writing. Each piece of writing is a representation of the student’s best work, and we can’t wait to share all of it with you! Please join us for our annual LAM reading on April 26 at 6:00 p.m. in the SCM Gym, where all AC students will read an excerpt from one of their pieces. It will be your first opportunity to purchase Life’s A Game, and this year’s Owlet Children’s Magazine, Shuffling the Cards! We hope to see you there for game night!
