Happy April Everyone!

Even with all we have had to handle, this year seems to be flying by. Thank you for hanging in there and continuing to move the PTA mission forward for all of our children and communities.

April is the time of year many PTAs start to seek nominees for the next school year. Setting our PTAs up for success is crucial for the sustainability of our association. A key component to this is succession planning and a smooth transition. After the election, schedule a turn over meeting so each incoming board member has time to meet with the outgoing leader. This offers them the opportunity to discuss the role, share successes, challenges, ideas for the future, and have time to turn over all materials to the incoming leader. If you need any assistance with this, your County Council Presidents, Region Representatives and Florida PTA Board of Directors stand ready to assist you. You are never alone, and that is what sets our great association apart from any other. We are also preparing a Get Engaged Wednesday to help with the annual Election Meeting. We had to reschedule this one but look for a new date to come out soon.

Remember to submit your membership dues monthly to the state office. We know membership has been on everyone's mind and it was felt across the state. We are confident that our members will return knowing that we were here for them throughout the pandemic. We must remain dedicated to the mission, ALL children and our communities in the meantime.

My word for this month is forward:
toward or at a place, point, or time in advance; onward; ahead:
to move forward; from this day forward; to look forward.

Thank you so much for all that you give; your time, talents and treasures. You are appreciated.

April is National Volunteer Month!
April became National Volunteer Month as part of President George H. W. Bush’s 1000 Points of Light campaign in 1991. It was started to encourage volunteerism and honor the impact volunteers have in communities.

How to Observe
  • Volunteer! Many volunteers will tell you it is a rewarding experience. You don’t have to have a ton of time.
  • Do you have a special talent or skill that may benefit a charity or organization? Offer your services or ask how you can be of help.
  • Thank a volunteer.
  • Use #NationalVolunteerMonth to share on social media.

Children's Week 2021 at the Capitol
Join us and become a part of the annual and signature Children's Week Florida event, Celebration of the Hands!

Each year since 1986, early learning programs, schools, and individual families across the state, have created children’s hand artwork for a stunning visual display at the Capitol Rotunda during Children's Week Florida. These beautiful hands serve as a reminder to legislators, advocates, and visitors of how thousands of Florida’s children, youth, and families are impacted by decisions made during legislative session.

Children’s Week Florida, with the help of our community Partners, proudly invites you to be a part of this time-honored tradition and have the hands of your little loved ones included in this event. Visit the Celebration of the Hands webpage or click to download the instructional flyer for more information..
