Canticles for Life at St. Martin's

AIDS Benefit Concert

Sunday, April 30, 4 - 6

St. Martin’s is once again hosting Canticles for Life – a concert whose proceeds benefit three NJ charities helping those impacted by HIV/AIDS. Admission is free, and there will be a free-will offering.  St. Martin’s will also host a reception in the undercroft following the concert.   If you can provide a baked good or a finger food appetizer for the reception, let Alison know – or just drop it off at church anytime that Sunday. We hope to see you there!

Pride Picnic Hosted by the Somerset County LGBTQ+
Advisory Board
The Advisory Board is holding its annual LGBTQ+ Picnic on May 11th from 5:30-7:30 pm at Duke Island Park. We would like to get a group of parishioners together to attend. Bring your own food, drink, and blanket, and enjoy entertainment and informational tables. We are looking into having an informational table about St. Martin's.

Outreach

During May, the Outreach committee helps the Food Bank of Somerset County every Saturday morning by giving food to those who need it. The dates for May are the 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th. We need one person to drive the van to pick up the food in Bound Brook and then 2 more individuals to help give out the food in Somerville. A sign-up sheet will be placed in the Narthex by this Sunday for folks to sign up. We will also be helping out every Saturday in August; so please keep that in mind.

Thank you to everyone who donated to the Easter basket collections! 26 Easter baskets were successfully delivered to the Bound Brook Board of Education the Monday before Easter. They were so grateful and appreciative of our donations.

St. Martin's School
The Sunera Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of persons living with disabilities in Sri Lanka and to helping facilitate their fullest integration into society. Donations funded the foundation and have been a lifeline for children with down syndrome and other disabilities. The director and staff are committed to helping children achieve their fullest potential through performing art, art therapy, and speech therapy. St. Martin’s school requests your contributions to any art supplies; crayons, paper, pencils, paint, paint brushes etc. for this worthwhile cause. All donations may be dropped off to Nimali at the school. Thank you.

Environmental Justice Summit

The diocese is sponsoring an Environmental Justice Summit on April 20: The link to register for the Zoom event is below: Environmental Justice: Green Jobs and the Impact of Green Projects on Communities featuring Keynote Speaker: Rev. Ronald B. Tuff,

New Jersey Organizer, GreenFaith

Thursday, April 20 from 7-8:30 PM on Zoom

Welcome! You are invited to join a meeting: ECS-NJ Spring Summit. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the meeting.

Trip Opportunity

Juanita and her Retirees' Club may host a trip to the Sight and Sound Theater to see The Christmas Story in November or early December. It would be a Tuesday or a Thursday. The cost would be $180 per person which would include the bus (from the Church) lunch at the Shady Maple and the show. The tickets might be a few dollars less depending on how many people attend as the main cost is the bus. The bus would be a 56-passenger bus equipped with a bathroom facility. We would leave the Church parking lot around 8 am. Whether we go or not will depend on the level of interest. If you think you might be interested, please e-mail Juanita at jmhawkins@optonline.net.
