KRS GARDEN PARENT VOLUNTEERS

As the spring season approaches, the Kings Road Garden is looking for parent volunteers. We are scheduling clean-up activities, adding new soil to the beds, planting, and hopefully some classroom activities. Anyone interested in helping out, please reach out to Chris Then at chrisjthen@gmail.com.

One School One Book - Book Reveal!

Lots of excitement ended our week here at KRS with the book reveal assembly! Prior to the assembly, the children were given a new clue each morning to help them figure out what KRS is reading together as a whole school! It has been such a fun week and many students were able to figure out that KRS is reading.… The BFG by Roald Dahl!

Books will be distributed Monday (today) to the oldest sibling along with a pacing calendar and a home letter. Lunchtime trivia returns and is indicated on the calendar in red to give students time to prepare with the at-home reading. Parents and guardians, please know, this reading event is intended to be a family literacy experience. We wish to encourage time set aside for family reading that hopefully spurs great conversation at home, which then continues back here in the building amongst friends and teachers!

A HUGE thank you to our wonderful PTO for once again providing the funding to support this amazing program! We are so thankful for all you do for the staff and students at KRS! Have a wonderful weekend and get ready to “read as a community” next week.

~ Mrs. Sims

Library Volunteers are Welcome Back to KRS!

Please sign up to help during your child's Library class. Library Class Volunteers will scan books, reshelve books, and help in other ways needed by Mrs. Thomas.  There are three dates for each class beginning February 16 (note: there is no volunteering for the 2/28 B-Day due to the Author Visit). More opportunities will be added after Spring Break. Please consider buying your tickets though the KRS PTO. We will receive $20 for every ticket we sell! Please see the flyer below for more info.

Volunteer Love

Thank you to Ms. Conner, the KRS Steam Teacher, for organizing such a creative and successful STEAM Fair. We had a great turnout, with 75 students participating and many families showing up to support their budding scientists! Ms. Conner told us, “There were so many innovative projects, and the effort and enthusiasm really shined through!” Thank you to all who participated and to the parents, who supported their children and their ideas!
