Getting Around Philadelphia

Whether you're traveling by train, plane, or automobile, here's how to navigate the streets of Philadelphia. The Visit Philadelphia visitor website offers overviews of getting to Philly and getting around once you're settled.

Philadelphia International Airport

The simplest way to get from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) to the conference hotel or venue is via rideshare services Uber or Lyft. Taxis are also available. Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority (SEPTA) provides train service to Jefferson Station (about six blocks from the hotel/conference venue) via the Airport Regional Rail Line.

30th Street Station

30th Street Station is served by Amtrak, NJ Transit, and SEPTA. Head to the conference hotel or venue via Uber, Lyft, taxi, or SEPTA's Market-Frankford line (5th Street/Independence Hall station).

Philly PHLASH Downtown Loop

Don't forget Philly PHLASH for exploring downtown Philadelphia!

New Additions to the Exhibit Hall

AJL 2022: Together Again! would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors, exhibitors, and advertisers. Please stop by the Exhibit Hall during the conference and visit them online.

Thank you in advance for supporting AJL's sponsors, exhibitors, and advertisers!

In addition to those previously announced,

AJL welcomes Torah Renaissance Press!

Announcements and Reminders

  • The Socio app contains the entire conference schedule, session descriptions, presenter bios, information about our sponsors, and easy ways to connect with other attendees. Be sure to sign in and create your profile BEFORE the conference. Complete instructions for signing into Socio and creating a profile were emailed on 5/18 or can be accessed at https://conta.cc/3M6ELbE.

  • Unfortunately, the session “Family, Hope, and Survival: Patterns & Trends in Holocaust Youth Literature” with Barbara Krasner (Monday, June 27, 4:45 pm) has been canceled. Check out the other programs offered at that time on Socio or in the preliminary program.

  • So that we can ensure the appropriate size meeting room and enough chairs for each session, please indicate on the Socio Schedule which sessions you are most interested in attending by clicking on the small plus sign to the right of each session (it will change to a check mark). This will also create your own personal agenda for the conference. Don't worry—you can change your preference at any time! We just want to get an estimate of how many people are interested in each session.

  •  Bring proof of vaccination to Philadelphia. Out of concern for the safety of our conference attendees and guests, everyone attending must be fully vaccinated. You will be asked to show your ID and proof of vaccination at the registration table, so please be prepared (take a photo of your vaccination card, upload it to a vaccination passport app, or bring it with you.)
