Building Blocks of Opportunity
Did You Know...across our global network, education is the #1 impact focus area for United Way? Whether that’s early childhood education, early grade reading, middle school success, high school graduation, college and career readiness, or graduation from college. Education opens doors, broadens horizons and sets students up for success. Along with health and income, it’s one of the building blocks of opportunity.
With all the challenges faced during the past school year, we know students, teachers and families are looking forward to beginning the 2021-2022 school year. We also know many families will need help to provide their children with the supplies they need for a successful year. As we head back to school next month, help United Way of Forsyth County maximize learning for Forsyth County students by donating basic school supplies like backpacks, notebooks, pencils and much more.
Interested in supporting United Way’s Stuff the Bus Program? For a list of most needed supplies or to donate click here. Supplies will be given to students and families in Forsyth County, Georgia and other local organizations serving students who need supplies for the 2021-22 school year. Help us Stuff the Bus and make sure our students and teachers have the tools and support they need to succeed!

Let's Talk About
MENTAL HEALTH
After the unprecedented stress and isolation of the last 15 months, mental health has come to the forefront of many discussions about overall health. Now is the time for everyone to recognize the importance of mental health and come together to break the stigma around depression, anxiety and other mental health struggles.
Much has been in the news about mental health especially impacting our athletes, our children and our community. Good physical and mental health is foundational for a happy, successful life. It affects everything from how well a child can learn to whether an adult can achieve financial stability. Health truly is one of the building blocks of opportunity.
Many people may be reluctant to talk about mental health, but it’s a topic that impacts nearly all Americans, whether personally or through someone they know. Our NEW Mental Health Website is intended to offer resources, information and awareness regarding mental wellness, mental illness and support to improve overall wellness in Forsyth County.

Coming Soon...Taco Time!
United Way of Forsyth County is partnering with local restaurants to bring you the Tastiest Taco.
From breakfast tacos to dessert tacos and everything in between, Forsyth County residents will have an opportunity to explore their community one tasty taco at a time.
Participants will purchase a passport with a different restaurant logo in each square – each square is good for one free taco at the designated restaurant between August 25th and September 15th. Passports can be purchased for $20 through United Way of Forsyth County.
All proceeds from the sale of the passports will support local programs and services provided by United Way of Forsyth County and our community partners. Meet Jonathan....He had been a reliable tenant for 8 years working hard to stay on top of his finances and making ends meet. Due to the pandemic, Jonathan's work hours were cut and he eventually lost his job. Jonathan had already begun to fall behind, but the loss of his job was devastating. His landlord had been willing to work with him but he was falling further behind as he continued to look for employment.
The stress felt like a weight on his chest and Jonathan was desperate for assistance when he finally reached out to the Federal Emergency Rent & Utility Assistance Program. Jonathan was able to qualify for assistance with his past due rent. With the relief from this assistance, he was mentally able to focus on his job search and has since started new employment.
