. . . At the Bat
I spent some time at the end of October staring at a mountain in Bat Cave, NC. I was invited to watch the morning awaken and the mist hide and slowly reveal the mountain. Sometimes the mountain would disappear again, so I waited. I am still not sure if the mountain was revealing itself or if the fog was declaring it's presence. It had my attention, and still does. If I could put a webcam where the view was, I would still be watching and not get anything else done. But, I am sure that was my purpose while there, to watch and wait, and see what it becomes.
While on a forest bathing walk, I observed a large snail, slowly and purposefully making it's way across the beautiful moss. Where was it going? This beautiful snail, hard on the shell and squishy on the inside.
It was a generous invitation, to be given time to be silent and still.
A friend told me, "We should be paid to be quiet, because that's when the work gets done." It is in the silence that we can hear. While we are chatty and noisy, how can we hear or be open to being guided?
November 20th, 9am - noon, we are offering an "IN AND OUT RETREAT," In person and Out doors. Come have a cup of hot coffee or tea to warm you while walking the labyrinth or the grounds. Find a bench to be still, quiet, and listen. Just for the morning. It's how the work gets done.
