Hello April!

Greetings Everyone!

We hope that this newsletter finds you all well and ready for spring! A repeated saying keeps running through our minds here at the Center, May April Showers bring not only May flowers but bring us together once again. We miss seeing each and everyone of you, as well as the free flow of visitors at the Center.

This pandemic has brought us to places that most of us have never been, with the exception of a few that survived the 1918 pandemic, many years ago. We will keep you posted as to our development as we plan to reopen the Center.

We are offering some new wellness programs on Zoom in April, Laughter Yoga Club and Mindful Movement & Medical Literacy. In May, monthly Meditations with Martina will kick off. We encourage you to check them out below and sign up to those that you find interesting.

As always we encourage you to reach out if you'd like information about our programs and services, or just to connect and say hello! Remember that our phone lines are open Monday - Friday from 9 am - 5 pm, please call 207-664-0339. You can also reach out to us by email at info@bethwrightcancercenter. We are here for you!

17th Annual Beth C.Wright Ride For Life
Saturday, September 11, 2021
Surry, Maine

In the past year, while the world has been concentrating on fighting a pandemic, many have also been fighting their own personal battles with cancer. Cancer did not shut down. Neither did the Beth Wright Center. We quickly adapted our services to reach out to assist cancer patients.

Support groups, programs exploring nutrition, meditation, relaxation, yoga, journaling are just a few of the services that are being virtually shared at no cost to cancer patients and their families. Our staff has been available by phone to assist those in need of resources throughout this pandemic. At this time we are offering assistance to those trying to navigate the vaccine process.

Raising funds to support this work has not been easy this year. On Sat Sept. 11th we will be hosting our 17th Beth C. Wright Ride for Life on the scenic Blue Hill Peninsula. Please join us in this effort to keep all our work moving forward! Check out some of the details for this year's Ride.

Highlights for this year:
  • Our goal to have 100 riders and raise $25,000.
  • We are now allowing e-bikes for the 20- mile ride.
  • We are asking participants to raise a minimum of $150.
  • Complimentary Boxed lunches provided by Brooklin Inn
  • A virtual ride option
  • $45 registration fee

We will keep you posted as we go forward in the planning process.

The Demsey Center and Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center
Join Forces to bring you
the Maine Cancer Support Telehealth Program
The Dempsey Center for Quality Cancer Care is partnering with the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center to implement its Maine Cancer Support Telehealth Program, an initiative to bring holistic cancer support to rural populations in Maine.

With locations in Lewiston and South Portland, most of the people the Dempsey Center serves live within the physical reach of their centers. Through this partnership with the Beth Wright Center, the Dempsey Centers will be bringing some of their cancer care support programs to Hancock and Washington Counties.

The Dempsey Centers have installed professional camera and microphone systems that will upgrade the delivery of its online classes. The Dempsey Center are also purchasing compatible telecommunications equipment for the Beth Wright Center. When the Beth Wright Center is once again able to bring people together, it will present Telehealth Program workshops at the Center.

The current plan is that by November 2021, the Dempsey Center will launch three pilot workshops or workshop series, centering on nutrition and fitness, and it will be brought β€œlive” to people in the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center (provided that the COVID-19 pandemic is under control) and others who have signed up to receive the programming at home, through the Telehealth Program.

We are very excited about this collaboration that will bring more programing and events to those who are affected by cancer who reside in Hancock and Washington Counties and beyond.
