Juneteenth Holiday Information

This year the Juneteenth holiday falls on a Sunday. Therefore, Juneteenth will be observed on Monday, June 20.


  • Garbage and recycling pickup will proceed as usual
  • The Waste-to-Energy facility will be open
  • Spokane City Hall will be closed but My Spokane 311 employees will be available via phone and online
  • Spokane Municipal Court will be closed
  • On-street parking meters will not require payments
  • All Spokane Public Library branches will be closed Sunday and Monday
  • Spokane City Council is not scheduled to meet

STA Summer Passes Are Back!

Father's Day at Riverfront Park

Celebrate Father’s Day at Riverfront Park! The Numerica SkyRide, Looff Carrousel, and Sky Ribbon Café are offering Father’s Day specials on Sunday, June 19, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Specials include:

  1. Numerica SkyRide – Dads ride for free with a purchase of a regular-priced ticket.
  2. Looff Carrousel – Dads ride for free with a purchase of a regular priced ticket.
  3. Sky Ribbon Café: Purchase a craft beer for $6 and receive a free cookie. Dads are encouraged and allowed to enjoy their beer on the Numerica SkyRide!

Cultural Event Incentive Grants Deadline Extended

We have extended the deadline for applications for the Cultural Event Incentive Grants to Monday, June 20 at 1 p.m. Applicant must apply as a non-profit with tax-exempt status, and host an event open to the public within the City limits in 2022. A full list of eligibility requirements are outlined in the application materials. Learn more here.

2021 Water Quality Report

The City of Spokane has released its required annual report on the quality of drinking water provided by the City’s Water Department. For 2021, as in previous years, the City met or exceeded all federal and state drinking water standards. Visit our website to read the full report.

Construction Zone

Riverside Reconstruction is underway! Traffic restriction include:

  • Riverside Ave. will be closed at Division St. west to Bernard St.
  • Division St. will remain fully open to traffic.
  • Browne St. will maintain two through lanes.
  • Traffic signal work will take place at Browne St. and Riverside Ave.


Please follow all traffic control signs and detours.

Chestnut-Elm Greenway Design Survey

Share your feedback on design options for a Neighborhood Greenway in the West Central Neighborhood. This project will focus on connecting the Centennial Trail to Dutch Jake’s Park and AM Cannon Park. The survey is open through Friday, June 24. Take the survey!

Resident Assistance
The impacts of COVID have created hardships for people in many ways. The City continues to connect residents with available and eligible resources.
Utility Assistance
There are Resident Assistance programs for emergency help to pay for City utility bills, which include charges for water, wastewater, stormwater and garbage collection. Interest-free payment plans are also available for residential and commercial customers.

Rent Assistance

City of Spokane residents will soon be able to apply for $5.59 million in new Emergency Rent Assistance Program funds awarded by the Washington State Department of Commerce.


The application process for the funds will be announced in the near future on the City’s website after details such as a sub-recipient provider to distribute the funds to the community are finalized.


More than 2,470 households in the City have benefitted from the program that started June 1, 2021.

The City of Spokane is a great place to combine community support with expertise. There are over 30 Boards, Commissions and Committees made up of volunteers who help shape our community. If you have one day a year, or one day a week, there is an opportunity for you. Pick your passion and get involved!

Spokane Human Rights Commission

The Spokane Human Rights Commission is accepting applications for the Youth Representative position, which will serve a one year term starting July 1, 2022. If you are under the age of 17 and interested in civil and human rights issues in Spokane, we encourage you to apply to bring your voice and perspective to the group.


The Human Rights Commission advises and makes recommendations to the City Council regarding issues related to human rights and unjust discrimination and the implementation of programs consistent with the needs of all residents of the City of Spokane. Commission members will have opportunities to actively participate in community events, facilitate public forums, and conduct public outreach to drive awareness, education, and advocacy around human rights issues affecting our community. The Commission meets the first Thursday of each month from 5:30 - 7 p.m.


Those interested in being considered may submit a completed application to the Mayor’s Office at mayor@spokanecity.org.

Spring Dreams: Summer Parkways Is Back!

Join friends, family and neighbors for fitness and fun at this annual summer solstice community event, on Tuesday, June 21, 6 - 9 p.m. for Spokane's biggest block party on the South Hill. Streets are closed to motorized vehicles and opened up to bikes, pedestrians, skaters, and other human-powered recreation.
