In Focus: Nevada Women's History

Nevada has a rich history of legacy makers who have made a significant difference for Nevadans since the turn of the 20th century. As we celebrate Women's History Month, we invite you to take a look at Makers: Women in Nevada History, a collaborative project between Vegas PBS and UNLV’s Women’s Research Institute of Nevada.

This continuing project's goal is to create and distribute programs that focus on local Las Vegas women who have made notable contributions to the quality of life in Southern Nevada. Check it out to learn more and honor women who have and continue to make it happen!

Search Advocate Program Changing the Tide at UNLV

Stefani Relles, Search Advocate

UNLV prides itself on a sundry student population; a heterogenous representation of backgrounds, ethnicities, races, and genders. As a Minority-Serving Institution rich with diversity and committed to equity, “access to world-class educational experiences that are responsive to the needs of our students and stakeholders'' is a cornerstone of our mission.

Delivering on that promise, however, requires a diverse academic and administrative faculty roster, too. A new program is aimed at purposefully cultivating that diversity throughout the entire recruitment process. Shoutout to the dedicated Business Affairs team members who are participating in the pilot program:

  • Rebecca Paulson
  • Reggie Bailey
  • Sarath Kraus
  • Kathy Schreiber

Facilities Management Blazing a Path on Campus with FM Building Liaison Program

Mike Flores, FM Liaison

Picture this: You have a 9:30 a.m. meeting and want to use the restroom before it starts. You do so and as you go to flush, you notice — no water. You go to the sink and discover the same — no water. You head back to your office and along the way, realize that water has been shut off to the entire building. If only there was a way for you to have known that the water would be turned off due to maintenance on the pipes. Enter — a Facilities Management (FM) liaison.
