New Church Year
March 1, 2023
| | |
For generations, Nazarenes have supported the World Evangelism Fund. Working together, we accomplish so much as the Body of Christ. Become a part of missions work and partner with the Church of the Nazarene to make Christlike disciples in the nations. In the Funding the Mission plan, the World Evangelism Fund is the vehicle through which we deliver the message of hope - and your church drives that mission.

Originally from Springfield, Illinois, pastor Trevor attained his degree in youth ministry from Olivet Nazarene University. While there, he met his wife Jennifer, and together they spent the next six years, after graduating, pastoring two churches in Michigan. Crossbridge
Hello! My name is Ayana Pittman and my husband's name is Josiah. In September we welcomed our first child, Jayla. I studied Pastoral Ministry at Olivet Nazarene University and worked in South Florida as a Worship & Arts and Youth Director. We made the move back to Illinois in 2022 and are now serving at my home church! A few things I love to do is going on a walk in nature, laughing with Jayla, and binge watching tv with my husband. Ayana, Worship & Arts Director
Originally from Palatine, Illinois, Josiah Studied Music at Olivet Nazarene University. During the multiple Ministries he was a part of, he met his wife Ayana. They moved to South Florida in 2021 after Ayana accepted a Worship and Youth pastor down there. While in Florida, Josiah started to work for Smart Home Companies and was installing and servicing systems. Ayana and Josiah have a little girl named Jayla and two dogs named Indie and bean. While serving at Crossbridge, Josiah will continue to lead the members in his team to first love God and then serve and love others from behind the scenes.

South Side Community Center
In reflecting over the last 5 years and how far the Lord has brought Southside Community Center. Can I tell you a story? I remember one day at the beginning of our launch of the Nazarene Compassionate Ministry Center when Pastor Lloyd and Cheryl were at the Center with Austin and I for our weekly meeting. A funeral procession started going North on Laramie. For at least an hour a processional of young people dressed in blue honking and hanging out of the cars. It was quite the site to witness.
You will see makeshift memorials all over town to help the community grieve the lives of those lost to gun violence. On the Corner of Griswold and Haynes in front of Griswold Liquor you will see a big teddy bear and candle memorial for Percy King. Percy was known to talk about organizing community members to work with the kids to help them “Believe for Something More”. They had big dreams but were gunned down senselessly.
Fast Forward. My prayer force team was doing our prayer walk around the park we do Freedom Fest Revival and Juneteenth Commemoration. I looked down and saw a 4-leaf clover. As we were walking toward the group of guys that sit on the corner, we affectionately call the Living Room. I pray for most of them by name. The Lord prompted my heart to ask the brother of the young man, John King, how I can be praying. He told me to pray for his kids and his family. We prayed for him and then his prayer requests. When we were done, I gave him the clover and word.
Why did PFN invest in Southside? Why do our supporters give monthly? They give to help ensure ministry efforts like Freedom Fest, MOMS Group, and leadership Academy exist. Because the return on your investment is eternal. The return is not seeing John hanging out on the corner these days. He is gainfully employed at Rivian and is a living testimony.
Remember all those kids in that funeral processional get to see John filling their Facebook feed with selfies, prayers and praises to God. He posts daily from work and challenges his followers to BSM “Believe for Something More”. Recently I was brought to overjoyed tear when I saw on Facebook where John was rocking the “Jesus On the Streets” t-shirts I gave him at our tent revival we call Freedom Fest. He promised me he would wear it. And he is a man of his word, telling everybody about the Jesus that saved him and is helping him to BSM Believe for Something More.

Church Multiplication Endowment Fund
Give a GIFT that doesn't stop Giving!
Would you give $1.00 a month if it never stopped giving, never wore out, never changed its usefulness or purpose and transformed lives?
The Church Multiplication Endowment Fund is designed to reach unreached people living on the NWIL District for Christ. Every dollar given will continue to give in perpetuity. An endowment fund uses the interest from the principle to do kingdom work. Will you help fund this goal?
Currently, our district property funds have been invested in planting 22 new churches these past three years and the district is in need of capital to continue to plant more! We need your help. Presently, there are 36 more potential church plants in various stages of planning which will require additional funding support.
Would you consider a GIFT of $1.00 a month? We are not trying to take money from your local ministry where you give your tithes and offerings. We are asking for many to give a little. Our initial goal is 5,000 giving at least $1.00 a month. Would you be one of those 5,000 making a commitment to create a movement to plant churches that change lives? Here are ways to give:
- You can give to your local church by marking your check or cash gift "NWIL CM Endowment" and your church treasurer will take it from there.
-
You can also choose to give online if you want to set up one time or reoccurring payments using debit/credit/Electronic Check on the district website at nwilnaz.org/GIVE/ On District Church Planting or direct CM Endowment Giving LINK. Or scan this QR code at the bottom of this article.
- You can send a check or cash to NWIL District, 4224 N. Brandywine Dr., Suite 300 Peoria, IL 61614 (please indicate CM Endowment on check memo)
We are also looking for those who might like to make greater kingdom investments!
You can give cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, livestock, grain, or other personal property. Basically, any asset of marketable value can be used to help fund this endowment. There are also charitable gift annuity options that allow you to specify the endowment fund or another ministry of your choice while allowing you to receive income for your lifetime and when you pass, your gift goes to the endowment fund or specified ministry. CLICK HERE to see other ways to model generosity. Gifts can be given in memory or in honor of someone.
Large or small: Why not leave a lasting legacy that lasts more than your lifetime.
For more information or confidential consultation please contact NWIL District Administrator, Jim Book 309-678-2357; NWIL District Treasurer, Ray Barker 309-645-7716; or the Nazarene Foundation directly at 913-577-2983.
