Open to All: Food Distribution Every Wednesday at The Glades InitiativeTGIFOODFOODHERE

For the past year and a half, and continuing into the future, The Glades Initiative offers weekly food distribution to anyone in need. Those coming in cars are asked to line up beside the office for drive-through pick-up on Wednesdays from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. Both drivers and walkers will receive food bags on a first-come first-serve basis. 

Our staff and volunteers will wear personal protective gear as we handle and distribute the food bags. We ask that drivers and their passengers remain in their vehicles and practice social distancing measures to keep everyone safe.

C.L. Brumback Primary Care Clinic at Lakeside Medical Center is offering COVID-19 walk-up testing for residents. Testing is by appointment only for any age; patients need not be symptomatic.

Palm Beach County Food Finder Map

An interactive tool using Google Maps to help people easily locate free food and hot meals in Palm Beach County. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

School Sites Free Meal Distribution Tuesdays & Thursdays (For Ages 18 and under)

Free Meal Distribution Continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays - BreakSpot Grab 'n Go Meals are FREE to anyone 18 years of age and younger (22 years of age and younger for ESE students), regardless of financial need.

Meals served at the food distribution sites, and at school when the School District of Palm Beach County returns on September 21, will be free to all students and children 18 years of age and younger (22 year old and younger if ESE). 

Student grab-and-go meals will be available at 173 District-operated and charter schools throughout the County. Distributions will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Three days worth of meals will be provided on Tuesdays, and two days worth of meals will be distributed on Thursdays.

Coronavirus Relief Fund Emergency Repair Program

Palm Beach County Department of Housing and Economic Sustainability hereby announce the availability of $3,685,932 in CRF funding to assist residents impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. CRF funding will provide Emergency Repair assistance to income eligible owner occupied residences, impacted by COVID-19, to address emergency ONLY conditions such as the installation, replacement or repair of: roofs, windows, doors and/or heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC).

PBC Youth Services to Resume Free In-Person Mental Health Services

In accordance with Palm Beach County entering Phase 2, Step 1 reopening, mental health services provided by the Palm Beach County Youth Services Department's Residential Treatment and Family Counseling (RTFC) Division will resume in-person services beginning September 21. Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 7 p.m. with locations in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Delray Beach and Belle Glade.

Veterans and active military are invited to a drive thru event at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center to pick up a FREE canvas bag filled with free gifts and resources. In Need of Masks? Contact The Glades Initiative, Inc.

If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last. 

If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.

Road Closures in Belle Glade, Riviera Beach Sept 16

On Wednesday, September 16, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Gator Boulevard at the South Central Florida Express (SCFE) Railroad crossing in the city of Belle Glade will be closed for railroad crossing maintenance. Traffic will be detoured to CR-880 via Duda Road and Sam Senter Road.
