The mission of the Early Learning Facility (ELF) is to assist in the development of pre-literacy skills by promoting reading, writing, talking, singing, and playing for children ages birth to five. 

ELF membership is required to check out resources from the lending library. Annual dues are just $5 for individuals; $10 for family childcare homes; $25 for child care facilities with less than 50 children and $30 for large centers and community organizations

(We are temporarily suspending ELF membership fees to Columbus County child care facilities and family child care homes due to the pandemic; however, we will continue to charge for lamination & other materials.
Membership fees may be waived for families experiencing hardships).

Feeling overwhelmed due to the changes of the Covid-19 Pandemic?
Learn how to manage your stress levels during these uncertain times. These skills will also help young children. Sign up for a 14-hour training or drop in on a 1-hour Listening Circle. Individuals completing the 14-hour training will receive a special incentive and a certificate of completion. Talk Like a Pirate Day
Many of our child care facilities, family child care homes, and community members had fun participating in the recent Talk Like a Pirate Day. Many pirate books were read, some children dressed up like pirates, everyone reported they had a blast creating pirates with the grab & go craft packs, they also had fun talking like pirates! Each child who participated received a treasure from the treasure chest.

It's time to sign up for the Upcoming Remote Holiday Story Time and
Grab & Go Craft Pack

Call the ELF today @ 910-212-6352 to reserve your Holiday themed book for check out and your Grab & Go Craft Pack. Deadline to sign up is November 6th! We will schedule a contactless curbside pick up for the first week in December. The following week you will read the book to your child/children and create the craft together. Everything you will need for the craft will be in the Grab & Go craft pack. It's that simple! The next week we will schedule a contactless curbside drop off to return the book.

World Kindness Day is November 13th. With all that we have going on in our world today with the pandemic it's a great opportunity to help your child learn how to show acts of kindness. Here are a few safe suggestions during social distancing times.

Draw or color a picture and mail it to someone.
Say Thank You.
Call a relative to say Hi.
Call and check on a elderly person.
Tell the people you love that you love them.
Give your parents/caregivers a hug.
Donate a toy to charity.
Help with chores.
Donate a book to the library/Early Learning Facility.
