Tony Griffin
Field Ambassador
Greetings FCA community! Tony Griffin here! In May of 2018, I retired from Heyworth Elementary School where I taught grades 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade for 32 years of my 33-year career. During my teaching career, I also coached various sports, from baseball, to football, to my passionate sport of basketball.
I was the head women's basketball coach at Heyworth High School for 16 years. Post-retirement, I was an assistant women’s college basketball coach at Eureka College. Currently, I am the 8th-grade girls' basketball coach at Tri-Valley Middle School. I also teach elementary education courses at Illinois State University, my alma mater.
God has blessed me abundantly! I am the proud husband and father to my wonderful wife, Becky who is a kindergarten teacher at Trinity Lutheran School in Bloomington and our three beautiful daughters Hannah, Linnea, and Clare. Hannah and Linnea live in Orlando, Florida. Clare is a senior at Concordia University Wisconsin. We are members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bloomington.
In my free time, I enjoy exercising, reading, and watching sports, particularly college basketball of my favorite teams from Duke University, Notre Dame, Marquette, Illinois State, and many more. Just look at my hat collection. I am a basketball junkie. I am also a Chicago professional sports fan of the Cubs, Bulls, and Bears. My ultimate thing to do is going to see our daughters and being a guest at Walt Disney World to see my favorite pal, Mickey Mouse.
I am excited about being a servant in the FCA community to coaches and athletes and helping to create disciples for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
