From the Desk of Dr. Mark Rollefson Superintendent of the Yorkville Joint #2 School District

April 17, 2023 | Issue #24

Both Referendum Questions Passed

On Tuesday, April 4, 2023 the voters in the Yorkville School District passed both referendum questions that were on the ballot.

For the voters in the Village of Yorkville, the results are as follows:

Question #1

61% Yes

39% No

Question #2

56% Yes

44% No

Question #1- Allows the District to borrow up to $12.1 million for facility and grounds maintenance and projects.

Question #2- Provides the District with $900,000 annually above the state capped revenue limit for annual operating expenses.

On behalf of the Board of Education, staff, and particularly our students, we thank you for your support.  It is evident that the citizens of Yorkville place a high value on their local schools and the children who walk these halls.

When considering that most referendums in southeastern WI failed, it is even more compelling that you support and value our schools and children.

In the spirit of accountability and transparency, I promise, on behalf of the Board of Education, to follow through with what we promised.  That is, the capital (maintenance and projects) plan will be carried out.  I will provide regular communications regarding the timeline, process, and progress.  Additionally, our budgeting and financial decisions will assuredly pass all state and federal audits and be used for exactly what we communicated with our public.

Thank You!
