Shannon in the Community
Northway Community Christian Church

Superintendent and expert craftsman, John Burton, along with his crew, received an incredibly thoughtful surprise. The first grade students at Northway Community Christian dropped by the construction lunch area to deliver cards, treats, and appreciation for the work being completed in one of their favorite places.

Women In Construction
Women in Construction Week spans the first full week in March, this year it was March 5-11. It is a week to recognize all the women in construction and look back on the history of the women who have helped to shape this industry.
Shannon Solutions
Sometimes the easy solution is the best solution. Recently, Project Manager Tammy Chiesa, encountered an interesting surprise while managing the beginning demo phase of an intricate, historical renovation. Considering the changes to our industry over the past 100 plus years, what we may or may not find behind a wall or under the flooring varies.

What you can see from the photos is where the shut off valve for the plumbing to the bathroom and mop sink should have been located. Because we could not isolate the water shut-off demo would need to come to a halt. Instead, Tammy suggested securing a plumber to work over the weekend to install the valve as the entire building’s water would need to be shut off. Work would then resume as typical the following Monday for both the construction crew but also the building employees

If this issue had not been found and demolition had continued, the entire building could have flooded ensuring employee displacement, construction delays, and exorbitant additional costs to the client. Thanks to Tammy and the team’s quick thinking, this issue was able to be resolved. Check back later to see the final results of this project!
