       Spring is getting close! There are many early spring projects you can work on as the weather allows. Check the March Top Tips list for helpful reminders and hints to do in the lawn and garden this month (also linked below). One project you can do now is to apply Pre-emergent Weed Control to your Lawn and Gardens. Crabgrass is the main target for the Pre-emergent Step of a Lawn Program since it spreads by seed. It is important to apply this early in spring before the seeds start to germinate. This treatment will prevent seeds of crabgrass and other weeds and grasses from germinating - so it is only for use on established lawns that will NOT be seeded in spring. Weeds that are already rooted should be targeted with the second step of weed and feed or with spot treatments in late spring. A Pre-emergent Treatment (such as Preen) in Flower Garden and Landscape Beds will help control weeds and grass from starting by seed. Again, only use this treatment in areas that you will NOT be starting seeds. It is best to remove rooted weeds and grass in beds by pulling or hoeing to keep prized plants safe from weed killers.
