All Saints Sunday, November 7th
Wassily Kandinsky, Allerheiligen (All Saints')
All Saints' Day, Sunday, November 7

Join us for this high holy day when we celebrate the mystical communion of the living and dead and commend the saints who have gone before. The day will be marked with special music and the reading of the necrology--the names of those who have died--during the distribution of communion. You may send names to be included to [email protected] or sign the book in the narthex at church.
Deadline for submitting names: Sunday, October 31.
Lord of heaven's reach,
of earth reborn;
you call us from starless graves.
to sing under infinite skies:
we praise your name.
for those who have walked this way
unheralded and unnumbered.
but known to you,
their beginning, their end,
their joy in life;
give us the same grace
to be unbound
and take the step of faith; through
Jesus Christ, the alpha
and omega. Amen.

St. David’s Giving Campaign Update
Thanks to so many of you, we continue to make good progress on our campaign goals. Participation (# pledges/households) is at 44% and we are at 61% towards our monetary goal of $400,000. Many Thanks to those of you who have already sent in your pledges.

As you know, our campaign will end on November 7. If you have not yet pledged your gift for 2022, please do so before then. The final number at the end of the campaign is what we will use for next year’s budget planning.

Butterflies – if you took supplies home to make butterflies, please return the completed butterflies after the 8:00 or 9:30 worship services this Sunday, October 31. If you are unable to attend church this Sunday, contact Cathy Schwichtenberg at [email protected] to make other arrangements.

Campaign Goals
  • 100% participation from all who received a giving packet.
  • Pledges totaling to $400,000 primarily to support additions to staff and to achieve a balanced budget.
  • Prayers for a successful campaign.

Thanks to all for your faithful support of St. David’s and your prayers for a successful giving campaign.

Mill City String Quartet Concert UPDATE
St. David's Sanctuary

The Mill City String Quartet concert has been MOVED to Tuesday, November 9th, at 7pm in the Sanctuary. There was an unexpected death of a dear friend and the funeral is October 30th. We appreciate your flexibility and compassion. The concert will be live streamed on the MCSQ Facebook page for those unable to attend in person. Thank you for your understanding in this difficult time.
You're invited to the first MCSQ concert of the 2021/2022 season! MCSQ desires to amplify the voices of people of culture in the classical music idiom. This concert features "Modes" by Dorothy Rudd Moore, Florence Price's "Five Folk Songs in Counterpoint" and Shelley Washington's "Middleground." We'll also be performing Sergei Prokofiev's String Quartet No. 2 in F Major.

If you are joining us in person, we request that guests be vaccinated, please wear a mask, and use social distancing. We will also be livestreaming this program, so you can watch from the comfort of your own home!
Volunteers Needed for St. David's Youth Ministries
As someone who has worked closely with our St. David youth over many years, I’ll be the first to say that we have the most amazing young people in our midst. Some of my deepest and most spiritually enriching relationships at church were born during my time in youth ministry. Please consider this opportunity… not only for what it will do to support our youth, but for what it might mean for your own faith journey. Prepare to be challenged, surprised, encouraged and most importantly… to plant the seeds for life long friendships.

We are looking to build a team of youth volunteers to support our new youth minister, Anna, and our High School and Middle School youth groups. Whether you are available once a month or weekly, we need you!  Our High School group meets on Sunday evenings (6:00-8:00) and our Middle School group on Wednesday evenings (6:45-8:15). Please email Anna with questions or interest/availability at [email protected].

Thank you for loving our children so well!

ICA Update
Current ICA Needs
We will be collecting items for ICA through this Sunday, October 17. Bring your items when you come to church on Sunday or you can leave them in the ICA baskets, located at the east and south entrances any time during the week. Current ICA needs include:
* kids’ snacks & beverages
* paper products (tissues, napkins, toilet paper)
* personal products (shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, adult diapers)
Any other items you would like to give will always be appreciated.
ICA’s impact over the summer
During the summer months of June through August, ICA staff and volunteers kept busy working to help meet needs of folks in our community. They worked with 992 households, 2598 clients and distributed 231,416 pounds of food. Ongoing support from the community financially (icafoodshelf.org/donate) and through food/personal care/home cleaning product donations help to make that possible. Thank you for your ongoing support.

A note from a grateful client
“You guys went above and beyond with helping me and my children. Life is already tough and then throw in a pandemic. I sincerely appreciate the staff and this program for being there, helping us through these times and setting me up for success.”

In this time of the coronavirus pandemic, the need to reach our most vulnerable parishioners has been great. Our 11 person Pastoral Care Team has stepped up to the plate and has been regularly calling around 24 St. David's members and families to share in remote fellowship, prayer, and conversation to determine if we, as a community, could help address any of their unmet needs. We are pleased to report that virtually all of these parishioners are doing well so far and have their basic needs met by their facilities and/or family. They are in good spirits and continue to remain resilient in the face of isolation and uncertainty.

If you find yourself in need of food or other resources, please contact:
Steve Johnson at: [email protected] or (952) 237-0031
or:
The Rev. Katherine Lewis at: [email protected] or (612) 747-5405

and we will assist you in finding solutions.
