Ontario Report
Jordan Kitchen
Spring has been slow to arrive in Ontario this year. As cool and wet conditions were the norm for most of March particularly in Southern Ontario. In Northern Ontario, there is still snow cover with the melt occurring slowly. Golf courses in Ontario have overwintered well with limited reports of ice or hydration damage. Snow mold pressure seems to be the topic of conversation amongst superintendents coming out of winter as pressure was high and many are seeing more of it in their untreated areas.

British Columbia Report
As the seasons change from winter to spring and we are all starting to gear up for another season, change can be found all around us. Obviously, myself writing this note as my first official duty as BC Director of the CGSA is change. I look forward to representing the province within our national association. I am passionate about the positive direction that both the BCGSA and CGSA are trending and look forward to providing my thoughts to help continue this momentum. I wish to thank Ken Bruneski for his service on the CGSA board as the previous BC Director. Ken is taking over as the Oakcreek rep on Vancouver Island and our close proximity will allow me to lean on his previous experience in the role.

Volunteers Wanted
CGSA’s Standing Committees are the lifeblood of our organization. The input of our members in a number of critical areas of the CGSA mandate helps to shape the very programs and services that the CGSA provides on a daily basis and provides an exciting opportunity to meet people from across the country and get first hand, and in many cases, advanced knowledge of the issues and situations affecting golf course management in Canada.
Canadian Golf Maintenance Department Compensation Study
CGSA recently distributed the most comprehensive Canadian Golf Maintenance Department Compensation Study to Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent Members. The study was done for the first time in conjunction with several regional associations; BCGSA, Alberta GSA, STA, MGSA, OVTA, QGSA and Atlantic GSA. This allowed a much larger reach to superintendents to participate and receive valued feedback.
