FHES Teachers Receive Tenure Status
During the October GMSD School Board Meeting, Forest Hill Elementary School teachers Andrea Dancy (KDG), Mira Ehrhardt (RTI Coach), and Ashley Rotenberry (3rd Grade) were recognized for earning one of the highest professional educator distinctions that can be granted to a teacher - Tenure Status.

Earning Tenure Status is no small feat! These educators have served the required probationary status of working in a TN public school for at least five years and have proven continued success as a classroom teacher by earning Level of Effectiveness scores of either above expectations or significantly above expectations within their last two years of teaching on a probationary status.

These level of effectiveness scores are determined through classroom and professional evaluations as well as student achievement and growth data. The GMSD School Board along with the support of Superintendent Manuel and Principal Percoski officially granted tenure status to these FHES Teachers for their exceptional instructional abilities.

Congratulations to Mrs. Dancy, Mrs. Ehrhardt, and Mrs. Rotenberry on this professional achievement!
Ever Thought of Being a Substitute?
GMSD would like to extend the opportunity for our parents to be substitute teachers at FHES!

A substitute teacher would have the ability to choose their schedule (1-5 days/week) as well as to specify job requests only coming from certain schools.

For questions, please email Mason Grace at GMSD Human Resources.
School Pictures Update
The last day to order individual school pictures is Mon., Nov. 2.

Pictures for Virtual Foxes: We have scheduled Holland Studio to come to school on January 19, 2021 for another picture day.

For the current virtual students who return to on-campus learning in January, they can take their picture during the school day. Any students who are virtual at that time, will have a chance to come into the gym after school from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm that day and get their picture taken.
2020-2021 Yearbooks Presale

AR Monsters Handed Out Last Week

Spirit Shop is Open with New Winter Gear
The newly stocked Spirit Shop is open and offering warmer weather clothing! Enjoy doing some holiday shopping for your Fox and Fox Friends.

Health Room Needs Spare Clothing
As we move into cooler weather, we could use some long-sleeved shirts and pants for girls and boys in the Health Room for spare clothes. All sizes, 3T-10, are appreciated.

Simple items like leggings or sweat pants are easier to match sizes. We are also out of new, size 6 boys underwear. Any donations are greatly appreciated!

Action Requested: Select Learning Mode via Online Portal Oct. 26-Nov. 9
The online portal for families to select virtual or in-person learning for the second semester is now open. The portal will close on November 9th at midnight. Any students who have not made a selection in the platform will be automatically enrolled in our hybrid/in-person learning model for the second semester.

Please read the information below carefully. Last week, GMSD shared the Superintendent's Report with you via email. With a run-time of approximately 12 minutes, Superintendent Manuel answers questions and goes into detail about the school choice window.

Frequently asked questions about current hybrid and in-person protocols and models can be reviewed here. Frequently asked questions about the fully virtual model can be reviewed here. The Digital Learning Student Handbook is also a good resource for those considering our fully virtual model.

Our team is also available via the Let's Talk App if you have any questions about either virtual or in-person learning.
Don't Forget to Talk! GMSD's "Let's Talk" Chat Feature
Let’s Talk! helps us build trust and open the lines of communication between parents, staff, students and our community. And it’s important that we make it easy for you to reach us at your convenience — anytime, anywhere.

Select from the topics, departments and schools to ask a question, submit a comment, or share a success. Please provide as much information as possible, and we promise to review and respond to you quickly.

Let's Talk! is not a replacement for phone calls or conversations. We look forward to hearing from you in the manner most convenient for you. In the event of an emergency, please call 911 or contact our district office.

Thank you for reaching out to us and supporting our district mission.

Nominate for Teacher of the Month and Youth Excellence Awards
Now more than ever, it's important to let our teachers and students know we appreciate their achievements.

The Germantown Education Commission is back in session. Each month, the commission will award a Teacher of the Month and Youth Excellence recipient, but first we need your nominations!

Get them in early, as nominations stay in the pool until selected or until the end of the year.

Email Stacey Ewell if you have any questions.
