Please Help Us with This New Survey
Dear Members,

The survey we recently asked you to fill out had technical problems, so we sincerely apologize and need to start over.

Please take a moment to answer this short survey (no need to sign in) by October 31 so that we can learn:
  • what information you want from us,
  • what is important to you, and
  • what you find useful and not useful in our communications.

Your feedback makes our programs stronger!

The survey is only about communications, so if you have any other suggestions – for example, for future special-interest, topical, or social events – please contact us at info@ncjwlongbeach.org.

Thank you!
Domestic Violence Panel
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:
HOW TO RECOGNIZE IT AND HOW TO HELP
Wednesday, October 27, 7 pm, Zoom
As a follow-up to this program, there is an opportunity to support Project WomanGood; see the Nov. 14 announcement below!
4th Thursday NCJW Movie Club
Thursday, October 28, 7 pm, Zoom
NCJW movie night is the 4th Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm. All movies can be viewed on either Netflix or Amazon. Watch the movie on your own, then come and share your thoughts!
On October 28, just a day after our special Domestic Violence Panel discussion, we will share our reactions after watching Tina, a revealing documentary about the entertaining music legend Tina Turner. The film features behind-the-scenes vintage footage of Tina's early days, meeting Ike and his band in St. Louis and becoming his sidekick. Surviving on more than her talent, she made it through the storm of Ike's path and domestic abuse, as the interview from 1981 People magazine spotlighted. The 2021 documentary is available on Amazon Prime for $3.99 rental.

None of the important work of NCJW – GLB & WOC is possible without your support. If you are able, please consider a donation in support of this no-charge event.

Community Service Project:
Support WomanGood and Clean Out Your Closets!
Sunday, November 14, 12 - 3 pm, Alpert JCC
As a follow-up to our October 27 domestic violence program, here’s an opportunity to support Project WomanGood – the great 501(c)(3) organization created by our panelist Julie Schwarz – which helps women leave abusive situations.

Drive by the Alpert JCC and drop off your vintage and higher-end donations to help support Project WomanGood through Julie’s Mom-Up Shop at Long Beach Vintage. Come meet Julie, who can turn your donations into money to support abused women. To get a better idea of Julie’s inspiring and creative endeavor, look up The Mom-Up Shop on Facebook or Instagram – or take a ride to downtown Long Beach!

Here are some ideas to get you started looking for items to donate:
  • vintage and higher-end clothing, shoes, hats, sweaters, coats
  • handmade items, pottery, 80’s- and 90’s-style clothes
  • purses, books, enamelware, cabin wear, cozy blankets

Julie will be present to curate items and answer any questions you may have. Items that are a little outside of what she needs will be donated to other thrift stores to support their efforts. Have fun, clean out your closets, and help women in the process!

For more information, leave a message at (657) 235-2511 or email Andrea Friedenthal at communityservice@ncjwlongbeach.org.
