Pebble Mine Permit Denied

In a surprising move, the Trump administration denied a permit for the Pebble Mine because it did not comply with the Clean Water and Rivers and Harbors Acts.

The mine would have negatively impacted Alaska’s Bristol Bay region, which is one of the world’s largest salmon fisheries.

NDAA Update

Our members spoke up across the country and not surprisingly, none of the public land bills included in the House version made the final National Defense Authorization Act.

This included Protecting America’s Wilderness Act (HR2546) which would safeguard federal lands in Colorado, California, and Washington as wilderness. It combines many bills that Broads have championed as well as the Grand Canyon Centennial Protection Act (HR1373/S3127) and the Colorado Outdoor Recreation and Economy Act.

Having received House recognition helps kick start protecting these public lands under the new administration.

We'll work toward the reintroduction and successful passage of these bills in 2021.

Great Old Broads for Wilderness is a 501(c)(3) organization.
