Garland Library Goes Fine Free |
Garland library users have cause to celebrate this fall. The library is going fine free! This means beginning Friday, Oct. 1, the library will no longer charge late fees on materials returned after their due dates.
Library staff do ask that users be considerate of other patrons and return borrowed items at their earliest convenience. The library will still charge for lost or damaged items. The charge for a lost item is the replacement cost, plus a $5 processing fee.

Garland Cemetery Walking Tour Available Starting Thursday, Sept. 30 |
Graveyards are outdoor museums that contain vast amounts of historic artistic and architectural information.
As you walk through the Garland Memorial Park Masonic Cemetery, 1600 S. Garland Ave., consider that these are the lives that made our city.
Tour guidebooks are available at the Garland Landmark Museum, 393 N. Sixth St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
At the back of the guidebook is a index of many of the gravestone symbols you will encounter on your walk. These symbols are referenced on each stop’s detailed page. Gravestone rubbing/tracing materials are available for free upon request.

Tri-City Cleanup Saturday, Oct. 2 |
Keep Garland Beautiful, Keep Dallas Beautiful and Keep Rowlett Beautiful are partnering to host the fifth annual cleanup along Lake Ray Hubbard shoreline and down Rowlett Creek from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 2.
This year there are multiple sites where groups can sign up. Choose your site, sign up your group, and we will be there with supplies! Each volunteer will receive a gift bag and T-shirt.

The annual Wheels of Hope Car Show will roll into Downtown Garland from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2.
Admission is free for spectators and $25 for vehicle entries.

COVID-19 Vaccines, Boosters Available at Garland's Public Health Clinic
You can get the COVID-19 vaccine without an appointment at our Public Health Clinic, 206 Carver Drive, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Garland Health Department is now providing boosters for the COVID-19 vaccine to those the declared eligible by the Centers for Disease Control. A third dose registration form and eligibility information are available at GarlandTX.gov.

Flu Shots Now Available at Garland's Public Health Clinic
The Garland Public Health Clinic, 206 Carver Drive, has received its first shipment of vaccine for the 2021-22 flu season.
Flu shots are available from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays for adults, children and seniors who are insured. Low-cost flu vaccines for uninsured children and adults are also now available.

COVID-19 Updates
As of Thursday, Sept. 23, the Garland Health Department has received reports of 1,710 active cases out of 37,426 confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Garland residents since the beginning of the pandemic, as well as 527 deaths. The City updates its posted case numbers each Monday and Thursday.
The City of Garland and its community partners are facilitating access to recovery programs for Garland residents who have been impacted by COVID-19. Assistance is available for a variety of services, including financial assistance for housing, utilities, food and medical expenses, as well as workforce training and job placement services, and counseling and emergency shelter assistance.
