Comments Needed: DOE Home Efficiency and Electrification Rebate Programs

Comment Deadlines:

To Massachusetts DOER – February 28, 2023 (new, extended deadline)

To the federal DOE – March 3, 2023

The Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER), is seeking public input into a Request for Information (RFI) from the federal Department of Energy (DOE) regarding home efficiency and electrification rebate programs from the Inflation Reduction Act.

You may send responses to either one, or to both.
Mass DOER is especially interested in feedback on coordination of IRA with existing state programs and funding, and targeted approaches to IRA implementation, including specific geographies or customers types for targeted approaches. Both comment periods (state and federal) are on the same 60 questions on the Inflation Reduction Act, regarding how DOE can make sure that the heat pump and efficiency programs reach and benefit communities that are marginalized, underserved and overburdened by pollution.

ACTION ALERT: Petition drive!
Gas is the Past!
We call on Governor Healey to declare no future for gas by Earth Day!

From Springfield Climate Justice Coalition:

Our new Governor, Maura Healey, has made climate one of her main goals. That's why we are asking her to declare, by Earth Day, that there is no future for gas in Massachusetts. We urge Governor Healey to halt new gas system expansions until the state has a concrete plan for a just transition to a clean — and green — energy future.

We envision a just and rapid transition away from gas to a future of clean heat powered by clean electricity. This is urgent for our planet and for communities currently facing expansion projects like Springfield and Longmeadow.

To get her attention, we need 10k petition signatures!

Spread the word far and wide, to friends, family, and the groups/organizations that you are part of!

Rally for Clean Energy - Boston Fee Party

Thursday March 2
11:00 am

Prices of electricity are skyrocketing this winter because our region depends too much on fracked gas for our power. The current system is unsustainable, harmful, polluting, and unnecessary. We know that cleaner alternatives exist.

The people who run our regional electric system, called ISO-New England, are keeping us hooked on fossil fuels and costing residents money. And the worst part is, we ratepayers who fund this whole system have no seat at the table! They make their decisions behind closed doors, without any accountability.

We're fed up with this system, and we want real transparency and clean energy now. We're calling on our new Governor Maura Healey to demand reform from ISO-New England.
