Last year, the Greater Denton/Wise County Association of Realtors (GDWCAR) hosted the first annual "Party with a Purpose," raising almost $40,000 for the first home of the Habitat Village. Thanks to your support and attendance, it was a successful and FUN event!
This year on April 30, GDWCAR is throwing the second annual Party with a Purpose to continue to raise funds for our Habitat Village homes. With housing costs skyrocketing, the building of affordable homes like these is needed now more than ever, especially in Denton County. At Party with a Purpose, you will dance to live music from In10City band, enjoy complimentary appetizers, partake in a cash bar, and more - all with the purpose of raising funds to build a Habitat home for a local, hardworking family. We need your help again this year to ensure the success of this important event - reserve your tickets today!

Over the last two Saturdays, our hardworking volunteers have installed the OSB's on the frame of the house, as well as the trusses on the roof. Both of these significant, labor-intensive tasks have helped to establish a stable, secure, high-quality frame for the home - an essential element for all Habitat homes.
As part of our Interfaith Build, ten congregations of different faiths across Denton County have come together to support this build and the Crawford Family. Special thanks to Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church for providing lunch on Saturday, March 26 for all volunteers that day!

Community Spotlight: Build Committee Chairmen
|
Did you know that we have a "Build Committee" of committed, skilled volunteers that help lead on each build day? These volunteers also put in hours of work during the week to ensure everything is ready to go for each Saturday for the community volunteers. This week, they have been finishing the roof trusses installation and preparing for the blue board insulation installation scheduled for this Saturday.
William Stewart has graciously volunteered as the Build Committee Chairman for the last 3.5 years, putting in over one thousand hours of his time to organize and lead the committee and our last several builds. He has done an astounding job and we are eternally grateful for all his work and support!
Earlier this month, the Build Committee unanimously passed a motion to name Glenn Miller the next Build Committee Chairman. We are thankful for Glenn's support as a Build Committee volunteer and his willingness to step up as Chairman.
Volunteers fuel Habitat's vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live, by building homes and relationships. Our volunteers get to see smiles on the faces of future Habitat homeowners, as they all work side by side to realize the dream of a home where a family can grow stronger and more self-reliant. Thank you, Build Committee Volunteers!

Spring cleaning provides a great time to take stock of the things you need and those you don’t. You may discover several gently used items from your home that can be donated to the Habitat for Humanity of Denton County ReStore.
When those donated items are sold, someone in your community gets to give your item a second life for a great price, and the proceeds from the sale go towards helping local families build affordable, decent homes.
