August 17, 2021

Dear Members:

Our Chamber continues to press forward with the reopening and growth of our businesses. We just welcomed the grand opening of Comar’s new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Rancho Cucamonga. The only phrase better than Made in the U.S.A. is Made in Rancho Cucamonga!

We are excited to announce our annual Fire & Police Event to recognize and appreciate our first responders and public safety professionals on September 9, 2021 at Red Hill Country Club. Our Chamber recognizes that public safety is essential to business and we want to say thank you to our men and women in uniform because safe streets mean safe shopping, dining, and fun.

Our Chamber is hosting a Business Emergency Resiliency Training Luncheon on August 19 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Central Park. Come learn what to do so that your business survives the next emergency. A prepared business is a successful business.

Our Police Department will be holding a Community Meeting on August 25 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Central Park to discuss public safety at our shopping centers. It is important that our retail stores do not become burdened with theft and homelessness that have plagued other cities. We appreciate our Police Department’s proactive approach and encourage all to attend.

We had the privilege of hearing from State Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh at our BCN Lunch. Senator Ochoa Bogh shared her legislative agenda and answered everyone’s questions. I had the opportunity to speak further with Senator Ochoa Bogh and discuss the concerns of the business community. It is our hope that Sacramento will protect businesses from Covid-related liability claims and stop adding burdensome costs and regulations on business owners.

Senator Ochoa Bogh shares our concerns and informed us that she is working on legislation (SB772) that would allow businesses and licensed professionals to correct minor code violations without being subject to monetary penalties. Right now, even the most trivial violations can result in thousands of dollars in fines and substantial attorneys’ fees. Allowing business owners to correct technical defects that do not cause any actual harm is smart public policy and beneficial to business owners everywhere. Please support Senator Ochoa Bogh in this effort.

The City is currently receiving community input on three proposals to reimagine the Regina Winery currently occupied by Joseph Filippi Winery. (http://publicinput.com/reginawinery) This is an exciting opportunity to share your thoughts on the future of this 14-acre property in the northeast portion of our city.

We are encouraged to hear that the Ontario Airport has regained its pre-pandemic travelers and has plans for expansion. The airport is a key economic engine in our region that supports many other businesses, including our hotels, restaurants, and logistics. When the airport succeeds, we all benefit.

As your Chamber President, it is my sincere desire to serve and advocate on behalf of all businesses. Please continue to connect with us, attend our events, and take advantage of our educational opportunities. You may email me any questions and concerns at Chairman@ranchochamber.org
