In May, contractors will be demolishing and reconstructing the Lane Channel along southbound SR-55 between MacArthur Boulevard and Dyer Road. In preparation for this work, crews are currently excavating a strip of roadway adjacent to the Lane Channel and will also be placing piles for shoring.
Roadway Excavation: Nighttime roadway excavation activities will require closing the outside lanes on southbound (SB) SR-55 between MacArthur Boulevard and Dyer Road, as well as the SB Dyer Road on-ramp and SB MacArthur Boulevard off-ramp. Closures are from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., nightly, through Friday, April 7.
Shoring: Beginning the week of April 10, contractors are expected to place shoring beams along the west side of the Lane Channel. Crews will use a vibratory hammer to drive piles into the ground. Shoring refers to the process of supporting a structure during construction. This work will take approximately one month to complete and occur during weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
